Hey guy's, i took my car to the local dealers and a woman drove it into the service area where some bloke had a look at it and soon after she came back saying they cannot see anything wrong with it. So i showed her the cracks again and she then said she would call the service guy to come and take another look at what i was trying to describe. I showed him where the cracks were and he said "oh that's nothing, it would be alright and that the only thing they would do is put a metal plate on the back and that should sort it but he would have to speak to his manager to see if they could take on the work". So we went back inside to speak to his manager and they went through my service history book with a fine tooth comb, about where it was bought, how much mileage was on it, when it was serviced and how much warranty was still on it. As they were discussing this over the phone the lady who took my car into the service area printed off three pages which had the proceedure for dealing with the recall of A2's that had this door problems. It had what they call a 200% parts and labour fix where they supply and fit all this at no cost to me, and there is also a good will gesture where i think they may ask the customer to pay for some of it. They had all the codes for all the parts that was needed to do the job, but unfortunately i didn't get that so at the end of the conversation they said they are going to call me tomorrow to let me know when it will be booked in to complete the work, and there was no resistance from them at all.
One thing i do know is that they do know about this problem but may well want to get out of it, so just be persistant and let them know its a common fault. Hope this helps.
