2002 Audi a2 led conversion from halogen to led bulb. Advice needed

Hi, i am changing all my halogen bulbs to led bulbs on my 2002 Audi A2 1.4 tdi.

Do i need a bulb holder or converter to change to the new H3 and H7 bulb led.

The bulb i have ordered are:

£10.16 45%OFF | Bevinsee H7 H4 LED Headlight H11 H1 H3 H8 HB3 9005 HB4 9006 LED Lights for Car 12V 24V 6000K 8000K H9 H13 880 881 Auto Lamp Bulb

Thanks

I very much doubt these will work, and even if they do, they will undoubtably be illegal. You'll fail your MOT.

You need to stick with traditional bulbs for all the main lighting functions.
I am aware that most led manufacturers are illegal other than it is an integrated and stock item by the manufacture.

Can you please confirm whether i. Need to do an alteration to fill the new bulbs. Thanks

For LED bulbs to be legal here in the UK, the car in question needs to support them. Audi has never supported the fitting of LED bulbs to the A2, and so they are, and will remain, illegal.

Beyond that, you'll likely have Canbus issues.

MOT testers are specifically asked to check for illegal LED conversions, which would be an immediate fail.

My advice remains, don't do it.

All the LED H7 headlight bulbs I've experienced "for" A2s are rubbish - granted very white and bright from outside, but scatter incredibly in wet air and drizzle, and utterly useless in hazy or foggy conditions where there is so much back-scatter that you have real difficulties seeing any distance. And that's before you take into account the catastrophic radio interference. Been there, done it, thrown them away. Stick to quality conventional headlight bulbs appropriate for the vehicle. That's not saying you can't get ones that have a whiter colour cast to look more modern - but as suggested above, get them from Philips / Osram / GE that comply with the necessary regulations.

I sat waiting for my car being MOT’t reading a car trade magazine!Article stating that it was illegal to fit LED bulbs to a car that wasn’t designed for them and that fitting them would be a MOT failure!Didnt know that but do now😊
