Hi All,

I wanted to come and say Hi! I've been having a look around the forum now for a couple of weeks since purchasing my 2004 1.6 FSI Sport with 37,000 mile on the clock.

I had been looking for an A2 for some time, and this came up a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t say no! A 2 hour drive away but well worth it :D

The car needs a few things doing to it, a new air box (old one wasn’t attached anymore), the driver’s door bottom hinge, spark plugs, auxiliary belt, cam belt and well a good clean and polish!

I'm currently trying to work out what/if optional extras the original owner purchased. I know cruise control wasn’t one of them, so that’s going to be a must!

Hi and congratulations on your new purchase:) they are great little cars.

When you do your cam belt it's worth doing the water pump at the same time as you have to remove the cam belt to do so. Mike Skipton is the man to see for your cruse control. He did mine and many others on the A2oc you can't tell it was not factory fitted.

What's the problem with the bottom hinge? If it is cracking then it's covered under free warranty repair, but some of the dealers need gentle reminding of the fact.

There should be a printed list in the front of your Audi service schedule booklet. It should have all your cars info engine type colour and specification codes ect
Some nice people have written down what all the codes mean. You should be able to find it on here if you do a search on here. If you have any problems let us know and we will help you out.

Cheers

David

Welcome to the forum and ownership. Just add to what David posted the cracks that he mentioned are metal cracks on the door itself normally above the top hinge. Is your problem the cracking noise when opening the door ? As most people think is the hinge

I would agree with Phil grim reaper, if its just that horrid crack noise as you open and shut the door it's the check strap. £16ish + vat from Audi, there are several threads on how to change, easy job if you can handle a spanner. Look at mine as you dont need to take the door card right off. Takes about 15 min. You will need a longish 25 torx driver and a 10mm spanner. Congrats on your purchase, enjoy. Cheers Colin

It is the check strap, this happened to me it is a bit of a pain to change but a cheap part which i am almost sure will cure your problem. Welcome to a2 ownership

Hi All,
The door was as simple as tightening up the bottom bolt on the door! Just needs to be adjusted slightly :)

The water pump will be done when the cam belt is done :)

I've had a look though the code on my Audi service schedule booklet but alot of them dont seem to appear in the list on the forum :(

Thanks or the welocme :D
