Dear all,
Today is my last day on the forum.
I will shift my concentration to other endeavours.
Why am I heading out? The reason for this is because answering queries is taking up too much of my time. I'm quitting cold turkey.
I know the remedy is to not respond so frequently but I just can't do that.

It's been my pleasure working alongside you all (from afar) on your cars.

Such a shame Andrew and thankyou so much for all your help and input. You are one of the "good guys" out there and will be very much missed. 👍 :(

Afternoon Andrew,

Such a shame you’re moving on Sir. I’ve enjoyed your contributions the last 18 months. We’ll be here should you decide to return. Good luck with the new endeavours. I’m only a PM away should you ever need anything that I might be able to help with.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Andrew,

You joined this forum 199 days ago, and have 637 posts on the forum at the time of writing. That's an average 3.2 posts/day since joining, which is a commendable effort. Indeed, your name has been such a common sight on the forum over the last few months that it feels as though you've been around for much longer.

Many thanks for your contributions, and all the best for the future.

Tom

Yep. Andrew asked us to delete his account as he's moved on. Obviously with such a wealth of informative posts, we didn't want to lost those so the answer was to use the anonymising function of the forum software. He'll be most welcome if he ever does want to come back though 👍
Daft question - and obviously I respect his decision, but is it possible to say who "Deleted member 20348" was before deletion? I am drawing a blank but it may well have been one of many members who I interacted with and value.

I've been there in terms of hobby-burn-out on a couple of occasions - initially with computer club in school as a teenager where after 4 years straight I was spending more hours per week coding than my actual lessons in my A-level years. I exiled myself a month into upper 6th and spent the rest of the year at break time and free periods in the 6th form common room where there was a turntable loaded (by other people!) with Dexy's Midnight Runners and Joy Division LPs, and remarkably sticky carpet and sofas. 20 years later after 12 years of rowing activity in various capacities running a student club, then a private club in Vancouver and then back in Scotland repairing equipment and coaching, binning it completely after the test kit went blue without looking back. After 7 years without hobbies I have spent a certain amount of time at A2oc since Sept 2017, but this is mostly because I'm constantly trying to anticipate what is going to go wrong with the A2s next and pre-empting this by participating in various discussions - and I'm only just over 1 post per day in that time unlike real addicts like you lot (!).. :)

Rotifer. (a small marine organism I learnt about in books by Gerald Durrell as a child). Crikey - he and I were more or less co-posting on a bunch of threads recently for the past few weeks. Never knew his actual name until now.

Would it make sense (if it’s possible) to change his username to

Deleted member (Rotifer)

Or something similar, just to have a recognisable name attached to his posts and threads?

Sorry Indi, no once they are assigned the names can no longer be changed. To anonymise output on request is part of our GDPR responsibilities.

Sorry, that sentence dampens the vibe on the thread rather, doesn't it. With that, I think it might be time to close it.
