Carpeted Tray Under the Handbrake?

Costs about £19 according to Audi BUT they said it will not fit!
Only fits newer ones with it fitted.

Me, I retrofitted the tray into my 2001 model, but it must be fixed specially, adds great value :)

I asked my dealer a few days ago about this tray. Alone not very expensive BUT: It is fixed at the back where it replaces the handbrake cover. The problem is, that for fixing it at the front you also need a new lower console - Expensive. So I decided to buy the box with cup-holders and little tray between the rear seats. Also not very expensive and easy to mount.

steering: How did you fix this tray?

Steering: Also interested in how you fixed this tray?

Skasie, I have almost fitted the box/cup-holders, screwed into place at the front, but not at the rear (couldn't see where to poke the holes through the carpet). What do I need to do here, do I need to remove the rear seats to fit this?

Ade, maybe I was too optimistic mountig the box...? I still haven't got it from my dealer but the computer drawings in their system looked as if it is easy to mount. As far as I understood it is mounted in front with some metal(?) piece fixed under the middle console (there are some unused holes for screws under the removable little box near the chassis number). At the back I thought it is mounted with some additional "clips" at these already existent plastic/rubber(?) "hooks".
Do You have the box with all the little additional pieces? I do not like the idea drilling holes in my A2. Maybe I should try to cancel my order if this is true...?

I don't think you need to drill any holes as the floorpan will be standard, you just need to poke through the carpet. TBH, I haven't had time to remove the rear seats and see if the holes are there empty (I peeked and saw two shiny bolt heads) where I thought the rear clips ought to go. Audi wanted to charge me £25 to fit it.

I've been driving around with it fastened and fitted at the front of the box, but just wedged in at the back. Seems secure enough and it needs a damn good tug to get it free. Good value IMO.

I'm still keen to hear about how Steering sorted the carpeted tray though....
