Thanks to everyone for your input.

I take it the two oils are synthetic or is there a difference as spike has pointed out in terms of lower viscosity and better gear change/cold weather?

Hi A202
Castrol Taf-x is an excellent 75w90 synthetic oil but I suspect it won't have the very low viscosity of the latest VW/Audi gearbox oils
Check out post 16 onwards of this thread for more info on several quality brands of 75w-90 gearbox oil compared to VW/Audi oils. One of Skipton's posts explains that G70 is the latest VW/Audi spec. This is not on the comparison list but will have the ultra low viscosity of the superseded oils.

Having read the post/thread Spike/Mike have commented on, it does appear the G070 from VW has the edge on viscosity. Hope it is not to dear for all this cold weather motoring, otherwise, I will have to wait until the weather warms up to at least 30 degrees before starting up my A2. This could be a long wait. Hope the weather proves me wrong. Go on, only for this bank holiday weekend.

Thanks to all for the info, as usual..Excellent and well supported with facts.

I've had TAF-X in the box at -34 degrees this winter and can't complain.
At the next gear oil change the VW G70 gear oil will be put to the test.
