Challenging Cat B as Cat S

This is not for an A2, hope this is ok to ask here because I have no prior experience in how to challenge the Copart engineer on behalf of my insurance. Car was parked and someone rear-ended it...

Nature of Damage
The vehicle has sustained a rear impact, resulting in damage to the following components and associated parts: bumper, tailgate, rear
reinforcer, rear panel, boot floor, right rear chassis left, rear exhaust, right rear quarter panel, right rear tail light, check right rear wheel
housing. Geometry check required to confirm front or rear suspension damaged. Structural components require realignment to original
dimensions by mounting on a jig.
Engineer's Recommendation: Total Loss
Category: B
Category Justification
B - Break - This vehicle has been inspected by an appropriately qualified person and declared unsuitable or beyond repair. Due to the
extent of structural damage with potential for further unseen damage in addition potential may not be repaired correctly due to lack of
available parts.
I am keen to keep and fix the car but how do I challenge the Cat B to become Cat S? Anyone with prior experience in succeeding with something similar? Cheers

As now deemed Cat B nothing can be done and the car must be broken up and scrapped. Never allowed on the road again. At least in the UK...
Cat S replaced Cat C Cars can not be lowered in class

Didn't know that, thanks
Will challenge the offer then and ask if I can keep the car for parts.

Do not know if they will let you keep the car as it is Cat B unless you are in the "trade". They need to keep control of it to ensure it is scrapped ( the non useable parts at least ). Perhaps try to negotiate the removal of parts once at the breakers?

Car is still mine, haven't settled. Claim is still open. I will try and escalate and dispute the Cat B with the help of the "Code of practice for the categorisation of motor vehicle salvage". Long shot, but nothing more to lose at this point

If you could get the rear bumper off, the extent of the damage, particularly whether it's really structural, could be much clearer, if the space frame is undamaged, a challenge could be credible.
Mac.

It’s your property till they either pay you or take it away. Copart and others have been known to lift cars from the roadside but shouldn’t take it from a driveway. Well worthwhile pushing back at them

good morning

you will need to contact your insurance company in regards to a re evaluation for the category of the vehicle
Thank You,

Saga continues

There is hope after all. This is insurance's response

As per the process, I have requested that Copart send a referral to our in-house engineers through their dedicated Copart inbox.

If you have any questions, please contact Copart, as they will liaise with our engineers on your behalf.
