Just got a new a2 but the hi fi is just the basic radio casette
Is it possible to slot in the symphony cd player or is the wiring loom not ajusted to meet this . Also is there any wires in the rear doors for additional speakers, if so how do i remove the speaker covers

I picked mine up last week and agree - the radio cassette is made by Grundig! (no really it is).
Yes, you can slot in a symphony, but at £617 do you really want to? I've fitted a JVC to mine and pocketed £500. The wiring is not to standard ISO specs but is very easy to modify WITHOUT altering the factory loom (you need to provide a second +12V feed).
No there aren't any speaker cables fitted if the speakers are not there already, you will either have to pay Audi somewhere in the region of £250 labour or fit your own. I've just done the latter and am currently awaiting the speakers from Germany (£60). A word of warning, the speakers DO NOT bolt to the trim panel, but to the door itself. The door then becomes a bass reflex chamber for the speaker.

Skipton01-welcome to the forum-nice to see so many new people joining!.

I take it you have had the radio out and dug around behind the dashboard?. You may see from some of my posts I am still debating whether to fit a 6 disc cd changer in the glovebox (I have a concert II, but want to save loading and unloading cd's all the time!).

What is the dashboard like behind headunit?. It would presume there is looking at the way the dashboard sticks out, but then maybe not?. Just wondering if you noticed how easy the route is from headunit to the glovebox?.

I have a Chorus as well at the moment - but then I listen mainly to the radio (obvioulsy not MW!). Does anyone know if it is possible to replace this with a Concert - so I can have a single CD player - or how much this should cost?

I am hesitant to replace with a non-Audi stereo - as that is far more likely to get stolen - as it can be used in other cars (despite the various security features - codes, panels, etc). Is this true?

It should be possible to replace the Chorus with a Concert without any problems... there a a lot of concert´s sold on ebay....

Bye, Frido.

I reckon the Concert will plug straight in.

I'm sure there is a route from the head unit to the glovebox. I managed to route a mobile phone harness from the dash behind the head unit down to the passenger footwell. There is a fair amount of room behind the head unit, but I struggled to get my rahter large hands into the gap.
I ended up poking an opened out wire coat hanger into the radio area from the pasenger footwell, taped the cables to the wire and then carefully pulled them through.
Not sure, but I think the coat hangers come free with clothes purchases at larger branches of Tesco (Musn't let the threads deviate too much :))

Yes, there's plenty of easy access from behind the DIN slot to the glovebox, but it's best if you drop the glovebox down (4 Torx bolts, 2 inside glovebox, 1 behind coin holder and one underneath in footwell). I'm not so sure that a Concert will plug straight in due to the CAN-bus coding.
Just been to Tesco for some milk and blow me, 2 other A2's there (Stalybridge near Manchester).

Sounds good guys-thanks.

See, Tescos is the mecca for all A2's-we should get a discount us A2 owners!.

Griff-it just happened one day that we realised many of us shop at Tesco's. Must be the aim of Audi marketing!.
