Concerto volume knob

A problem with the volume knob. It starts on ± half of the volume but if I turn the knob in either direction, it literally shuts up. I can find a spot where full volume can be found but I have to struggle for it.
Does anyone know if it is fixable or at least how to override it for the player to always be in the full volume mode?
I have a bluetooth modulator with its own volume control.
When I brought the player to our local electritians, they said the concertos were pain in the rear end because they have some kind of a processor that has limited amounts of volume changes and when it wears out, the knob stops working. It's not like I believed them but I don't have clear reasons not to. So maybe someone here had their hands on it and know?

This sounds like a first-generation Concert, from a 2000 or 2001 model year car. If so, your electrician is absolutely right. Your best bet is to replace it with the second generation equivalent, which will need a Canbus extension to function. @timmus can tell you more. Or I suppose you could go aftermarket, which at least will have the same plugs and 12v activation.

Yes.
A tape player with the knob in the middle.

Curriocity again: you mentioned him with a @ character. Will he get a notification that he was mentioned?

Yes, that's a tag that will be notified to him with the red number against the bell icon at the top of the screen.

So if I want someone that hasn't responded to a thread to view it, I can mention that person that way and he will get a notification?

If someone has previously replied to a thread or they originally started it, they will automatically get a notification when new replies are posted (unless they unwatched it). Sometimes a tag also works for good measure.

I had exactly the same problem with mine from 2001. It's the model with the central on/off volume control.
Your electrician is correct. The processor chip fills up, and the problems you have happen. The bass and treble etc have these, but are unlikely to fill up.
I thought it would need cleaning up; but no you can't.
Tomas Kovacik in Slovakia makes and supplies a new chip you can install easily, by removing 2 resistors (very, very small),
soldering 2 wires, and fitting the new chip on top of the old one.
I like to keep the original stereos, and don't like ripping out and modifying wiring.
I did mine at the start of lockdown, when getting anything done or supplied was difficult.
A company in Essex can repair them using original parts obtained from Europe, but this was far more expensive,
and supplies in early 2020 were difficult.
Mine's been successful, and Tomas assures you that his modification doesn't produce the same problem
in future.
Audi, apparently wouldn't admit there was a problem, as this started happening many years ago.
Tomas Kovacik, IVA'MASESTIE HRANIC7AROV 35 (not sure if it's a 7 or an odd letter)
851 03 BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA
I hope this helps. I apologise if this address is slightly wrong, as his writing isn't that clear, but he'll deal via email.
If you Google Tomas Kovacik, he'll appear, and the repair item is listed at $30
He was very helpful, when I didn't understand a very simple procedure.
Good luck.

Assuming handwriting, maybe could be Námestie Hraničiarov? Street surrounding a square / park in a suburb of Bratislava with the same 85103 postcode.

As already written you most likely have a problem with the chip inside the radio.
The cheapest and easiest solution was also already written (Tomas Kovacik):
Although first check that you do not have a faulty volume knob.
Symptoms on my Concert were that sometimes it would start with 0 volume, sometimes at full volume (really good wakeup early in the morning :)) and as soon I touched the volume knob it would go to 0 if I remember correctly.

Thanks.
The final link needed to do the job. :)

The knob itself doesn't seem to be faulty because I can feel it turning the servo without any restrictions or being loose. In other words, it turns in pulses.

Thanks Robin. That's likely what it should be. It was a small hand written slip of paper, Tomas sent with the part.
It took about 3 weeks to arrive (awkward period), costing £5 approx postage.

5.76 to be exact.
I selected the one with tracking to avoid unpleasant surprises.

I recently received a diverted package that was meant for a lady in Germany. In fact, 2 separate packages with identical labels and tracking numbers by Belgium post (they kinda act as transit and redirect chinese packages from ebay by placing their own labels on top of the chinese ones). Only one was mine so it was the belgian's error.
