This may sound easy but someone here must know....

Do the speaker covers on the doors simply pop off, I played
with one and it just seemed to be stuck on, I didn't want to
split it.

And, has anyone removed a (old style single front loading CD)
Audi SYMPHONY head unit and what have they used to remove it.
I know there are 4 slits in the four corners but what's the
best tool to remove it without causing damage!

Cheers,

(From a very nervous A2SE owner.)

Hi Neil...and welcome!
I haven't ever removed the speaker covers myself but have been warned that it is very easy to break them if they are man-handled. It maybe easier to ask a dealer to pop them off first and I'm sure they can't be too hard to get back on.

With regards to the stereo, when I picked up my A2, I asked Audi to leave the stereo just popped out of the slot so that I could remove it easily.

Not very good advice, but to save you the expense of release pins, again it's probably easier to ask Audi to release it for you. I'm sure they won't charge anything for the service!

The speaker grilles do just pop out. You need a thin wide flat piece of metal (the radio removal keys work well!) and be sure to start at the top of the flat side, if you start at the bottom then you will snap something. The tweeter covers are exactly the same (these need to be removed to gain access to the third bolt securing the door trim).
With regard to radio removal, get the proper keys, your dealer should supply them, or Halfords (about £3).
