ediag won't read codes on obd scan

guys, ive got abs light on and airbag light on, plugged in ediag, scans the system but then just goes blank, you can't read or clear codes shows no dtc or anything, any help
 
ediag? not sure if that's the name of the OBD scanner you're using but not all scanners will 'talk' to all systems.
You need to be using VCDS. Have a look at the scan register for someone local or buy a cheap interface and download the free VCDS lite from Rosstech

hi mick, yes its a fairly popular scanner, it reads my audi a5 and galaxies, it scans for codes ok but when it gets to the end it doesn't flag anything just goes blank, infuriating
