Error codes

Hi,

I know this is a bit off topic - but a friend of mine has a couple of errors that he was asking me about:

Address 46: Central Conv. Labels: 8E0-959-433-MAX.LBL
Part No: 8E0 959 433 AJ
Component: Komfortgerát T9F 0617

Component: Tõrsteuer.BF BRM 0002

1 Fault Found:
01561 - Left Rear Door
61-10 - Won't De-Safe - Intermittent

Address 56: Radio Labels: 8E0-035-1xx-56.LBL
Part No: 8E0 035 186
Component: concert II GRO 0007
Coding: 00001
Shop #: WSC 63351

1 Fault Found:
00858 - Connection; Radio ZF Output to Antenna Amplifier
36-00 - Open Circuit

The first one seems sensible - surely he doesn;t ever want to be in a De-Safe situation! :) Presumably this means that the door is failing to unlock occasionally.

The second one is more annoying - he currently can receive any FM or AM radio. He's had a look at the physical connections on his Concert II - but everything seems pretty well connected. I was gonna try plugging my Symphony II in to see if we can rule out an aerial problem. His is an A4 - so I was going to check tonight where the aerial amplifier is connected in the workshop manual.

Any other ideas on either error?

Ben

Hi Ben,

Would I be right in thinking that your friend has fitted the Concert in place of a Chorus, or is in some other way an upgade?

The ZF output is the return from the radio back to the aerial amp/switcher in the boot.

On older or non-cd cars, the aerial amp/switcher wasn't present and so when you upgrade, there is no way to make the connections that the headunit is expecting, hence the fault.

If the above isn't the case, then it points to either a break in the return wire or a defective aerial switcher unit.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Spike & Mike. I'll pass the info on. It's an original fit Concert II - so I'm guessing a dodgy wire on the aerial, or a duff switcher.

Ben

PS - he said he'd spent some time looking for help on this issue online but without luck. Where was a4oc.net when he needed it eh?

Mike.
My A4 has had a chorus to concert II switch and we didn't get that error message although 'sooty' hasn't got the diverity aerial fitted so relies on the other aerial type, which seems to be garbage by the way but no worse than 'eggbert' was with the symphonyII

Wooly A2,
It has been just goes under about 6 different names, you wouldn't beleive the trouble I have getting 'helpfull advise' for 'sooty' as I have said before A2OC, can't be beaten as a one stop source of information

And as there are a fair amount of shared systems, I suppose that A2OC has something to offer ALL Audi owners!

Cheers,

Mike

PS HEadlight auto-levelling should be a doddle for you Mike - the mounting points should be there already, unlike the A2, which will be having a bit of welding and drilling done soon!
