Front Calipers and Flexible Hoses, whats the correct length ?

Changing the Front disks/Pads yesterday (2001 1.4TDI 75) and noticed that the flexi hoses looked past their best. Decided I should change them and I'll probably do the calipers as well as the piston dust boot is torn on one side)

What manufacturer do people recommend for the calipers (tons of options on AutoDoc) and also whats the correct length for the flexi hoses as they all say compatible on autodoc but the lengths vary. Will these all fit?

Cheers Dave

My experience from bying the cheapest calipers on internet was that within a year the piston dust boot was cracked. Rubber seems to be rubbish generally in the lower price range.
Recently I have started using second hand calipers from VW Up! instead on my A2s.
They are identical and easy to find to a good price and in good condition if one target the later ups like from 2018-2022.
That is one way to stay on the genuine quality level without going to the Audi dealer.

I can get new febi ones with discount for £66 for the pair at the moment. It looks like a pair of used UP ones from a breaker are a similar price. Would you still recommend the used VAG ones over new, I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that the febi ones should be OK ?

Without having tried the febi calipers IRL I would probably expect them to be of an acceptable quality. But hard to really know beforehand.

Thanks, I'll give them a try I think, they have a reasonable guarantee and normally in my opinion their stuff is decent 👍

HEL ones are £54 for a pair at the moment - I've got these on all three of our A2s at @rosscanning 's recommendation.

Thanks for the hint, they look smart 😁looks like there's 2 variants depending on vin number so I'll check mine and hopefully order the correct ones 👍

Although there are loads I got all of mine in black because I'm not 19 any more! When I got mine I think there was only one option, there seem to be more now. I got the same ones for a 1.4tdi as I did a 1.4i and there were no issues.

Thanks Ive ordered them and sent my VIN so they can send the correct ones, I've said either dark blue or black is ok. Surely the bright colours will end up looking black anyway after a few months 🤣

Febi front flexi's are very good and come complete with banjo and washers. That's quite a statement from me as I do my best to avoid febi but others swear by them so it's very much a personal choice, if you like changing parts more often or ball joints tearing out of their castings

I’m running Febi callipers; no complaints, work fine.

Edit, I think it is worth mentioning that, unlike many Febi supplied components, these are not genuine parts with branding removed. These are a reasonable quality alternative.
