Halfords have a 20% discount on Mobil 1 4/5L.

So today I bought Mobil 1 esp 5W/30 for £40 :)

Cheaper than some online places, but not as cheap as Costco I imagine!

Even though I am self employed I'm sure I could blag through any of the criteria though:

Does Mobil 1 conform to the spec for Audi approved long-life 0w 30 oil? Can't remember what the code is.

Hi

Yes the Mobil 1 5w-30 conforms to the necessary A2 specs and we also have it on offer.

You pay the members prices on everything on our site, which is 10% off the retail price. We also have various other suitable oils for the car in the clearance section and some are real bargains (the Motul VW specific at £35 for 5L is a very good one)

Mobil are trying to get the 1 litre top up market with Audi dealerships at the moment.

It used to be Castrol (Edge), then Shell (Helix) and now Mobil are trying to usurp them. Apparently its a very lucrative market.

Cheers,

Mike

The top up sales is a very good market to be in. They can charge a fortune for 1ltrs. Sadly for us, by the time we add delivery it is hard to compete. But I can assure you at £13/14 odd per ltr there is good margin in it for them, especially if the manufacturer is cutting a deal to get the business.

Cheers

Guy.

Halfords do their own version of the 507 spec. VW/Audi long-life service oil. AND it's a 5 litre container not 4. Anyone tried it? Wonder WHO the maker is for this?

was in the back door of the local Audi Garage and they had 1 litre containers stacked to the roof,so must be on a good price

Try asking at the checkout.
I once queried the quality of their own brand brake pads and they checked a screen which showed the supplier (Federal Mogul in this case) The may be able to do the same for the oil.

Cheers Spike
