Greetings all, I hope you are well.
I am a new member here on A2OC and what a great forum this is, everything I have so far researched on here has helpful and friendly responses. Hopefully I'll be able to offer some advice at times as I am a mechanic by trade and certainly enjoy a fiddle. Whilst I am new to the forum, I would say, considering the A2OC number plate holders, A2OC sticker, the very pleasing sat nav, colour mfd and Bose, that my new car is no stranger here! 2003 Silver A2 WG53DMO.
I am really happy with the car and am loving the easy drive and high fuel economy. I've already spent a few hours breathing a little refinement back into the car as I must admit it was rather shabby sounding and the heating system barely worked to begin with.

So far I have

1. Tightened a loose nut on the NSR shock absorber which has stopped the hideous knocking noise from that end.
2. Replaced missing bolts from the carrier bracket for the brake reservoir which has stopped some intolerable rattling at certain RPM's.
3. Welded up the bracket for the boost pipe which runs across the front of the engine, maintenance only, no improvement.
4. Welded a broken exhaust hanger which stopped the tinkling.
5. Adjusted (bent bit in all honesty) the bracket for the engine cover which has stopped that rattling.
6. Replaced the gearbox engine mount which gave a massive improvement in NVH, it was almost totally collapsed.
7. Removed, stripped and cleaned the potentiometer which is in the V70 central flap motor for the heating system. I was suffering random air distribution and no footwell heating. Wow that was a tight job but is all done now, cost £0 and has been working fine with no further fault codes for a week or so.
8. Lubricated the pivot for the aux belt tensioner as it was sticking.

With all of this done so far, it is turning into quite a refined little car and is a joy to drive.

Many of these jobs carried out with assistance from this very forum. Thanks very much to all who have been involved.

All the best, kind regards....Dan
