Hello from the Ukraine

A2OC Donor
As you have probably realized I've not been on the forum since 2019 when I sold my A2 to a mate of mine, I'm currently in the Ukraine so unable to do any car work nowadays, although I miss my A2.

I'm still considering modifying an A2 to take a modern A1 mmi system with dab, telephone and navigation etc and since I've been here in the Ukraine I took up Arduino/Teensy and C coding etc and I think I know enough now to be able to intercept and forward can bus messages to translate the required messages between the two. My only issues, I don't own an A1, an A2 or any MMI parts anymore as I had a fire sale back in 2019, oh yes, one other thing, there's a war going on in my back yard.

Here are some of the musical projects I've created since 2020 when I got my workshop built.

Love the wooden 19” rack mount. Are these synths you are building and developing yourself, or built from kits?

Thanks, they are mainly synths that I have either designed from scratch or taken the core of another synth and expanded it. The wooden housed device is a midi controller for the Arturia CS80v virtual synth, it reads in approx 128 sliders and switches and outputs them as MIDI messages for the synth and it also has a seperate ribbon controller strip to emulate the ribbon on the original CS80

Yeah, stupidly expensive, let's hope the Behringer BS80 is actually as good as it looks on paper.

Is it the BS80 or DS80 now, will be interesting if it finally lands. I have no direct experience with Behringer but the clones from Klark Teknik (Limiter and Dimension D) which I think they own are excellent so if anyone can pull it off …
My hat goes off and my heart goes out to you doing this in a theatre of war, take good care

J

Cheers, yes you are right DS-80. I have some Behringer stuff, it seems solid enough, but the recent long awaited Pro-800 seems buggy as hell for a lot of people. I hope they fix the firmware issues.

That's my major problem, I'm not a great programmer, just a hardware guy that recently got into coding.

I bought your car last year, however I only have the TT seats now

Would love to know how you did the Q7 headlights! (sadly they weren’t with it)

That's my little beauty, still looks the same. The headlights were a one off with the Q7 V12 daytime running lights cut down by 3 leds and then fitted into a set of split headlights from a 2001 car. Controller was supplied by Kufatec to control dimming when indicating, low beam etc, coming home functions. A very expensive conversion that probably cost me around £1000 at the time with over half of that being the Q7 lights.

Wow that’s a lot of loopy for lights! What happened to them, any idea?

I found a few bits of the leds in a box given to me with the car, must have been the cut offs you mention.

I sold them to DJ190 and you may have some LEDs with the car but they won't be from that conversion, I remember throwout what was left if the job, it would have been a hacksawed up set of 3 large reflectors.
