How Rare are our A2's !

Back in Sep 2005 when the DVLA kindly sent me FOC an extract of A2 vehicles I plotted the data by council area and was disappointed to see they had made an error and 32% were marked as "unknown" - mostly/all metropolitan areas - see map below with green areas = missing. So I sent them a SQL database query to do it by postcode town - see below. They replied "interesting, but it will cost you £x00 for another extract". Mean lot!

In 2005 top areas (ex missing areas) were

Cheshire
Berkshire
Strathclyde
Hampshire
Kent
Lancashire
Essex
Surrey

Above are "old" counties (pre Local Government reorganisation) as that's what my mapping software supported. Original data was by unitary authority and I mapped those to "old" counties.

Maybe the more affluent areas?

Personally when i bought my A2 I opted for service history, reasonable mileage, Spec and then colour.
I think all A2's of any colour look great from the classic silver with open sky to Jaipur red.
I prefer a car that has been used but well maintained.
Would be nice to know how many of each colour are left?

I was astonished to learn today how Rare my 2003 Audi A2 1390CC actually is...., only 513 officially registered in the UK as of the last quarter of 2022 ( information from DVLA website ). This has made me sit up and take note of how badly I've cared for my car since acquiring it in 2020 and the changes I've got to make about how I treat this ever increasing Rare little Gem.

But what of the future, with 2030 just round the corner and the changes it will bring, will the effects de - value our already Unofficial modern Classic ?

The Audi A2 Owners Club will become even more important and significant to us in the coming years as more and more A2's disappear from UK roads each year ( DVLA statistics show an average of 90 A2 cars a year in the UK are SORN'ed ).
Absolutely zero chance of 2030 nonsense happening.

Good point, need mor members of the forum to help feed the cycle of restoration! I see a lot of other groups have people post they are scrapping the car with immediate effect and no pre warning or cry for help. On this forum we seem to be good at keeping them spinning.
I try my best!
