Hi,
a little update...
I'm still collecting the parts before the big plunge.
Now I have the A3 8P steering module, so for the MFSW conversion, I just need some connectors/pins/cables.
I have the AMI CAN module but not the loom. I think I'll have to order t
he one from Kufatec and cannibalize the connectors I'm after (one in particular) plus some cables : because of being "plug and play", it is too bulky with its 2 quadlock connectors. Indeed, as I also will add Bluetooth and maybe a video input module (for reversing camera), I can't add all those plug&play quadlock conectors in series
Does someone know if the connectors alone or (part of) the loom are available form Audi ?
This one (RNS-E side) :
And this one (AMI side) :
For the BT module (not yet arrived), I'll order a P&P loom too.
Since I woke up the A2, the airbag light was on.
VCDS's verdict was : "65535". That's the airbag control module. I don't how and why it occured...
The fault code is impossible to erase for safety reasons. I tried first to cure that with a device said to be able to erase the internal error code. Apparently it worked for many people, but not for me. So I bought a 2nd hand airbag controller on ebay ads Germany.
It was by chance the same version as mine, "E" (part nr is 8Z0 959 655 E), well, that's by far the most common, because I learned after that that the versions were related to the airbags setup of the car : with or without sideguards and/or with or without passenger deactivation key in glovebox, both extras I don't have on my A2.
I fitted it today and I was very happy that the airbag light lit off
BTW, removing the central tunnel trim is a pig ! In the end, I stopped at the point where I thought I had to remove both front seats to be able to take that trim off, and I managed to replace the airbag controller through the handbrake opening in the tunnel trim. A bit tricky but doable, only 3 screws to loose ; with the trim being free, so it can be lifted by 5-10cm when needed, otherwise it would be too tight (12 T30 screws to loose : 2 at the top rear, 2 at the top front, 4 each side on the front).
While I was at it, I've already cut a rectangular hole in the tunnel trim for the wireless charger, it's one less thing to do for later.
Now that I think about it, I should have started with that ! It would have made the replacement of the airbag controller easier
To be continued...
