Good Morning all!

I have a 1999 Audi A2 Y reg it a cracking car but I have a problem. The garage I took it to in North Wales had an issue dialling into the ABS as he said the software was too old. The car can be used but the brakes judder when used. Can anyone suggest a good garage close to Preston who has the computer equipment to resolve this and get me back on the road? I’m not the most technically minded I how this post makes sense

Thanks
Graham

Hi Graham,

I’m just outside Lancaster, know the A2 intimately and have diagnostic software beyond the abilities of the Audi dealerships. I will certainly be able to establish where the fault lies.
Under normal circumstances, I’d also be able to enact a repair, but I’m currently recovering from knee surgery, so am more limited in what I can do.
At the very least, you’d drive away with a clear understanding of the fault, which could then be rectified elsewhere.

All the best,

Tom

Any dash light on If so need to start with reading the fault codes and go from there

If no dash lights then I would start with front disk and pads and callipers. Check all are in good order and replace as necessary
Worth checking rear brakes but unlikely to cause the symptoms as they are drum breaks at the rear

I’m in Kirkham so can take a look for you one evening
I have vcds and a well equipped garage

I note you have a reply from Tom in Lancaster who is more knowledgeable on A2 electrics than I am, but I know he isn’t up to crawling under cars at the moment
If you are thinking it is an electrical issue then I suggest to see Tom if you think it is more mechanical then I’m likely the better bet.

Hi Tom is Sunday ok with you this week?
Yes, no problem.

I shall send you a private message with my address.
