Is this oil ok?

Apologies this kind of question must have been done to death on here, but just wanted to make sure I'm not making a school boy type error!

Only had my 1.4 petrol A2 for a month or so and the low oil light came on last night, checked with the dipstick (long isn't it?) and it looks very low.

So I'm going to top it up with Mobil 1 ESP 5W/30 which according to the halfords website is VW 504 00/ 507 00 specification.

I checked the service history of the car and it looks like this is the same oil that the Audi dealer used last.

I'm planning to top up .05L at a time until I get a good dipstick reading and hopefully the light goes out.

How does this sound?

Re oil top up

Sounds good to me Bendy. If you have the almost impossible to read orange dipstick the latest ones from Audi are black £14.75 + vat (make sure you request a black one) They will want your reg no. Makes checking much easier. I think the diff between empty and full is 1 litre, so 1/2 then check is good. Well done on your car choice. Petrol is good (I have had both and prefer the petrol for it's refinement) Welcome to the ACOC. Ps they all seem to use a bit of oil. Cheers Colin:
 
Thanks for the reply and confirmation I'm not going to mess it up!

Yep, the dipstick is the orange one, I'm going to buy 5 litres as I've seen people commenting on how much oil seems to get used.

Topped up with 1.0 litres (.05 at a time), I've got a 'wet' dipstick and the lights gone out,
