Thanks for the info....i got mine from the same german site...but for the rear i got the E1409 which i am guessing they are harder than the E 1408.....is that true?
I am very happy for my choice but i have one annoying deep noise from the rear shocks.....everytime i am driving over a bump or an anomalie on the crappy greek roads!!!!! I am wondering if i had put the E1408 would be the same?

Did you fit the shock yourself? It's likely that the top nut on the rear strut isn't tight enough and so has movement when you go over bumps etc.

No..i did not do it myself....i went to an audi specialist....he checked... all the nuts and it was fine ...he said!!!!
To make it clear ,the noise i am talking about is coming from the boot sides, inside the car (i think) a deep oomphh....!!!!

What is the effect if i change the oem springs with lower? Comfort wise? Would it make a huge difference? Or it would suit better with the reflex suspension?
I found it already a bit stiff and hard for my standards but still i am willing to experament.......!!!

Having just fitted Monroe reflex dampers last week (with OEM SE spec springs), I can say it feels loverly!
My other car has FSD's and Weitec 30mm lowered springs. This have done 90,000 miles and are due to be replaced soon.
I will be fitting Monroes and OEM springs. Hope that helps you decide!

I've recently fitted Monroe Reflex dampers and H&R 25mm springs and HD drop links. It has literally completely changed the way the car feels. It now handles like its on rails and the the steering is far more responsive.

The car is no longer crashy over bumps but it is very very firm. The car now follows every depression in the road so although the suspension is far smoother than with standard shocks and springs there is a lot more movement from within the cabin. When I first test drove the car I regretted my decision to fit the lowered springs but now a few hundred miles in I really like it.

I fitted Monroe Reflex with Spidans front and rear and it ruined the car! Introduced a lot of roll on the front end and the back skipped over bumps with no compliance whatsoever. I actually deemed it dangerous on certain b-roads. Recently switched back to OE springs and the change is huge; introducing two 3rd party items not designed to work together, in hindsight was stupid but... many here have done the same with none of my issues.
Mine's an FSi with OSS and the ride height on Spidans was never correct - I had to change the front springs to the 1.4 petrol variant but the back was always low and rubbed the tyres under compression every now and again.
I can recommend the dampers but I'd stick to the springs that the car was designed to work with - if you want firmer/lower, try the sports - Tony at A2cars will help match the springs for you.
Cheers,

I've had for some time 1.4 petrol springs on my FSI (with OSS too), and, although the ride height was correct, the ride was not good. These spings are too soft (the front ones).
You have to look for springs for the 1.4 TDI. It weights almost the same as the FSI with OSS

Steve a lot of people say that hr springs are not good...very hard and bouncy.....how is yours comfort wise? Any noises ober the bumps ? Or rattling? What is the difference you think compare to oem springs with the reflexes?

It is a lot better than the standard suspension but then the standard suspension had covered 115k miles so lets face it a couple of sponges would have been an improvement.

The suspension is now not crashy at all but it is very firm. There are no rattles, no noises over the bumps. There is no issue with quality it is simply that they are very firm. I've grown accustomed to it now and quite like it. The cornering ability is a world apart from the standard set-up.

Thanks for the info steve.......i have found a pair of hr's brand new... only 70 euro !!!!!! and i am very keen on buying them...it is just the fact that i was afraid of replacing oem springs in case the feeling with the reflexes and the hr's was getting stiffer and harder!!!!!!!!

I reused the originals. Even with 178k on them they were fine. Springs will continue to work as good as the day they were made providing they haven't been over-stretched or compressed. When measured mine were still exactly the same length as specified from new.

Part of the reason for re-using SE flavour springs is that I'm fitting 17" wheels soon, and didn't want to have the triple whammy of firmer suspension + firmer springs + low profile tyres equalling a boneshaking ride. Hopefully, the allegedly slightly softer Monroe's with SE springs will mean a bearable ride....
Surprised to learn that the original springs were still in good working order after 178k miles !
