Low torque at 1000-1500rpm

Hi folks - my FSI seems to have particular low torque when pulling away.

It has no problem when in-gear and lugging fourth or fifth round from under 2000rpm and 30/40mph, but it often needs a clutch dip if pulling off uphill and using less than 1500rpm.

I have had the inlet manifold cleaned using a Terraclean treatment, as well as using an injector cleaner, but is there anything I might be missing?

Thanks!

An AMF or BHC engine? :)

Hi sailesh,
I’m going to ask the obvious first,
Have you scanned using VCDS?
If so what are the results?
Has the throttle body been cleaned recently? If so was an adaption carried out afterwards with VCDS ?
Hope that helps
Keith

I don't see how TerraClean does anything for the manifold, as I believe the cleaning agent is combined with fuel, and injected into the combustion chambers. If so, it does not pass through the manifold.
As @kp 115 says, get it scanned. Do you have the EML on? If not, does it comes on, at the first turn of the ignition key (when all alarm/warning lamps illuminate)?
Mac.
PS: The FSI has to be reved, max torque at 4200 rpm. There is not that much torque down at 1000 - 1500 rpm.
PPS: What fuel are you using Unleaded or Super Unleaded?
Mac.

I would say there is something wrong with your FSI, scan it.

I drive a FSI and I can think of one short quite steep hill I go up on occasions which has traffic lights halfway up. Thinking about it I must have started from rest at the lights many times and never had to dip the clutch, in fact by the time I reach the top I am moving quite fast.

The FSI's engine does not wake up until 3000 rpm, don't spare the horses as the old saying goes.
