Mysterious Engine Light: Load Calculation Cross Check - Lower Limit Exceeded

They’re almost certainly easier to make than a MAF, but they can still be wrong and cause issues. What was the part number of the Febi Sensor you fitted? The original would have been Magneti Marelli or VDO, not Bosch thinking about it.

While the “dynamic factor” is 0, the lambda isn’t doing anything. When it starts to move, then it’s working. I guess that will be when the ECU starts to evaluate faults (all of its sensors are stable), hence the light coming on at that point.

@Indi can you post of screenshot of the VCDS screen showing the ECU part number, software version etc.

If this is still an issue for you, an ECU software update should help. @NeilA2, do you still have the issue too?

I still get the error now and again but it seems less frequent now. To be honest I'm being lazy and not chasing it at the moment. The car never drives any different when the light comes on so I figure it's nothing too serious. I save and clear the codes (light) when they come up as I'd like the system to always be able to alert any error as it happens but that's all I am doing for now.
Would like to hear if anyone solves this and happy to run some basic comparison tests on my car but I'm not good at in depth VCDS stuff.
On a positive note, this car is brilliant just pottering around Falmouth in Cornwall. Why the hell do so many people drive stupid great expensive SUVs?
Met the Flushing ferry man the other day when I saw his A2 parked on the Quay side. Cheers!

I’ll send it later if I have a log saved or Wednesday if not, the 1.4 is off the road at the moment as the clutch has gone, I’m driving the FSI as I’ve just got that back on the road.

ECU info:

Part No: 036 906 034 CA
Component: MARELLI 4MV G 4637

so it looks like I'm not up to date then...

Any idea how one would go about remedying this?
Can I DIY it or does it need a dealers touch?

Yes that is the “middle” version, 5949 is the latest version for BBY.

I can’t promise it will work, but that code is mentioned as one that is “fixed” by an ECU update.

A dealer should be able to do it, however, they need a VAS 5051. That tool isn’t used anymore, so you would have to get lucky that your dealer has kept theirs and has someone who is willing to use it.

Other options are:
1. Get a new ECU with that version
2. It should be possible to write a program to do this update using a VCDS or KKL cable, I will be looking into this and it will have its own thread.

I didn't think you could write, (other than soft coding), via OBD. I believe it is a bench job, am I mistaken?
Mac.
