New battery

Hi can anyone tell me if it is normal to replace the battery every 3 years on my a2 as it sluggish to start after not driving for 10 to 14 days, have had 2 new battery since purchase in 2017, it is a 04tdi or is there any other problem that any one has come across that might be causing a sluggish start, yours great full for your suggestions Mh
 
Starter motor earth cable contact - many people here recommend this. I wouldn't have believed it until I had all three of my A2s (with good batteries) suddenly start misbehaving when the weather went cold before Christmas. I did it on the two cars of mine where the bolt wasn't corroded in place and irremovable and it has transformed them. I now have two 1-2 year old good batteries in the garage as a result of having bought new ones when they turned over a few times and died. Live and learn! Hope yours is as simple.

The bolt in question is behind the (UK passenger, EU driver) side headlamp, below the ABS pipework - there are many threads here with good photographs so I'm sure you'll be able to find the info necessary to verify if this is the problem quickly. Best of luck, Robin
