possible MAF fault

On rare occasions my A2 lose's power when i plant my foot it just slowly slows down revs really low etc with no warning lights on dash.

To fix i need to stop turn off the engine then start it again and it seems to run fine.

This only happens the odd time but seems to be getting more frequent.

I'm thinking MAF sensor if anybody else has ideas i'd be grateful.

Tried VAGCOM no faults shown.

Unfortunately this COULD be a lot of things. Mine had this fault for months - it got so bad I just got into the habit of re-starting the engine on the move everytime the boost controller cut in.

Mine was eventually diagnosed as a leaking intercooler (seal had blown). Had the intercooler and the sensor unit that screws into it replaced and all is well (apart from my wallet which is £350 lighter using an 'independent' garage).

Meant to add - if you suspect the MAF sensor - just run with it disconnected for a few days and see if there is any difference.

No MAF sensor works better than a faulty one.
