Random Multiple Cylinder Misfires or something else

My A2 1.6FSI is once again in the local garage having had the engine management light come on. The intital problem was diagnosed as multiple cylinder misfires, and the spark plugs and ignition coils changed. After this it was found that their was a lack of power so a new air flow meter was fitted which apparently cured the problem. But on a test drive by the garage the warning light came on again. After running the diagnostic once again the same error codes popped up 16684,16685,16687.

The mechanic is adamant that their is nothing wrong and that the car runs perfectly smoothly. He can clear the codes but they return once the car is driven. They have spoken to 4 other garages (1 main dealer) and nobody seems to know why the codes are still appearing.

After reading various post on this forum i have suggested to him a problem with the ECU, or the EGR but he doesnt think either of these are the problem.

Has anyone had a similar experiences with problems clearing these codes? As at the moment my car is sat in a workshop with nobody knowing whats wrong with it. And its been a week now and there is no solution insight.
