Rear speakers retrofit

Hi everybody,
sadly one of my family member’s A2 is getting scrapped next week. However, I have the opportunity to retrofit some things, one of which is the rear speaker that my A2 lacks of. I’ve seen on some threads that there’s an “amplifier” (I’m not sure about that) under one of the front seats which I need to install, is there a thread that can help me out? Do you guys have any suggestions? Taking apart the door trim doesn’t scare, the wiring and the B pillar trims do.

Evening.

It’s not been too long since I retrofitted rear speakers in my the Project EUD A2x although I conducted the Bose retrofit at the same tine I do beleive the process will be quite similar.

I could quite easily type out a guide for you to follow. It would probably time a couple of hours to ensure the information was total; probably better over a series of FaceTime/WhatsApp video calls when you have the tools out.

If this approach may not be overly helpful then I suppose I could sit down and type out a guide after working this very retrofit out for myself to do similar as stated earlier.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom, I used your guide and another that you wrote, they were so helpful I can’t thank you enough, your project EDU is amazing! Turns out that the donor A2 has a diffent B- Pillar connector so I had to cut the wires with the connector to the speakers and solder them to a wire I ran from each side. Now I have to connect the wires to the radio and amplifier, I have the schematics but just to be on the safe side, I have to run the audio cables (rear Left and Right and GND) from the radio and then another that goes to the speakers(positive and negative for each side), correct? What’s the difference between a 12V and Remote 12V wire? Thanks again!
