hi folks,
just upgraded from an A4 1.6 petrol saloon
to an A2 1.4TDISE and thought the service module was
great until i realised just how easy it would be to lose
ones bonnet! i mean all a ned has to do is lever open the
flap then turn the two bayonet catches then he`s off
down the road with a bonnet under his arm.
any reports of problems /theft.
also is it possible to fit alternative locking systems
to bonnet for extra security.

Not to be funny but that is a bit far fetched isnt it, why would they want your bonnet?

1.4SE petrol 2001, Dark interior, Sat cloth, Brilliant Silver, 3 spoke Steering wheel, Rear electric windows and Panasonic MR555 stereo, Panasonic 8CD changer, 10 speakers (2 extra 13" 190 watt each.)

1.4TDi 2002, Biege interior, Brilliant Black, Concert II.

They'll nick anything in Scotland then sell it deep fried.
A2 bonnet suppers!
Sorry Tam.

You would be suprised-if it isn't bolted down it will be stolen. I think if it did go, it would have to be someone with prior knowledge of how the flap and bonnet work.

I supposed you could try and link it to the alarm-for what it's worth!. Or try and use a cable tie to hold the knobs down, but they can be cut through........

A relevant point I think bigtam. You can buy locking wheel nuts. And I wonder how much a painted bonet is-probably more than a wheel!.

I've got a dent on my bonnet that chipsaway said that only Audi could fix - probably would be several hundred quid. So beware any cobalt blue metallic owners...bolt your bonnet down now!

coming from scotland myself, i find the easiest way to deter thiefs is to connect a 415v power supply to the car bodywork. :D[}:)]

Through an HT coil to provide big zaps on the door handles and bonnet release.
It is already part of the alarm system.

If your bonnet does get nicked In Scotland you'll probably be able to buy it back for 50p down the Barras next Saturday...

Maersk is right,

There's a switch under the bonnet that sets the alarm off when the bonnet is removed when the alarm is on.

What about a completely defferent solution!! I have seen that on one of the Club-Pics!! It is the Promocar by KW!! The modified the bonnet so that it lifts like any normal bonnet with two hydraulic lifters!! Has anyone see how it works?? Seems like a neat idea and definetly would solve the whole "theft"-problem.

A2 1.4TDI Silver, CC, Blaupunkt Hamburg CD70, still fairly standard :(

P.S. It's the Modified A2 Gallery No.4. The top 2 Pics!
