Could'nt resist it, sorry! Picked up my ex-demo silver TDI SE Open Sky/CC 9 spoker yesterday. Lovely. Looks like the silver A6 avant has given birth on the drive! A triumph for the forum...when I test drove it I noticed the funny honking noise almost immediately, and based on the advice gleaned from the posts, asked the dealer to check the exhaust gas recirculation valve..this was changed ( actually he said TWO were changed..are there two? )and hey presto..no honking. He says Audi know about the problem but don't know why it happens. Anyway thanks to all for the invaluable info. Anticipating years of fun hopefully..I don't change cars lightly..a car is for life!
