Squeaky rear suspension

Recently I've started to notice a really horrible squeak every time i sit down or get out of the car. Seems to be coming from the back. You can also hear it when the handbrake is not fully up and the back squeaking away as it rolls down slowly.

Anyone know what i'm talking about!?!?

There was a thread on this a few months back: the squeak I get, and most people get, when getting in and out is the sound of the rear brake shoes rubbing on the drums as the wheels move very slightly due to the suspension moving. Nothing to worry about unless anyone else has other ideas!

I had this exact question 6-7weeks ago.My first thought was that the present Mrs was getting fat. It turns out she uses the handbrake when parked which causes the squeeek when getting in or out.Solution is to park it in gear this will sort it.:)

If you want a squeek use the handbrake if you dont dont
On the Brittmobile its there for show and mot purposes only it also means it never needs adjusting :D

I have exactly the same squeak as described by Keez and badlyread, which sounds opposite to Britt. I also get the squeak as I release the foot brake - but no squeak when the handbrake is pulled.

I've had it for many months and it is not an issue. One dealer said it is likely rusty shoes and quite common. Not worth to change anything (for once the dealer did not try to get money out of my wallet!).

New brake shoes and a good clean inside the drum should fix it but I don't fancy opening the drum myself.

I've got the same sound from my rear wheels, and i've discovered it yesterday while jacking up my car to do a tyre swap. At first i thought it was a bouche or problem, but realized that the sound is gone if the handbrake is not pulled.:)

I have a very fastidious squeak on my A2 coming from rear suspension when I load two persons on rear seats. I have replaced shock absorber and dust covers but no change. This squeak can be heard till a speed of 50-60kmh then is disappear. At low speed like 20-30 it seems like a wheelbarrow. What could it be ?
