Standard cloth trim - what a nightmare!

A major German manufacturer like Audi must spend millions and millions on testing every aspect of a new car right? Testing this widget to destruction, testing that gromet to an infinite degree. Why did they never take an A2 with standard cloth trim and put a baby or small child in there for a short spell? Each of my seats are horrendously stained with drink, chocolate, bodily fluids of some description (not mine I hasten to add). The "waffled" nature of the cloth seems to attract and trap passing molocules of......well anything noixious. I have had numerous Beemers and French cars which shrug off such an assult quite easily. That cheap French velour which has a nap like old style Action Man's hair was particularily easy to keep clean. I certainly wish I had leather but any tips for cleaning & protecting the seats would be greatfully received.

LMAO at that one, sorry I don't have any suggestions yet as we've only had it 5 weeks (690 miles).

Mine's got black satellite cloth and that stains to :(

Yesterday I've discovered a spot on the drivers seat and I used water to remove it. Today the spot's still there and the water has left a circle mark around the spot.

Now I've got two spots. I'm going to visit the dealer to have it cleaned.

Hi Dennis

That is exactly the problem. Any liquid spilt on the seats either stains or laeves a "water mark." This discourages applying water in order to clean stuff off. Not very practical in this day and age!

A local car accessory shop to me has fake tiger skin seat covers if thats to anyones taste [:p]

Try warm water + cleaner, such as Fairy or Pril. Normally all kind of dirt should get out off the seat.

Water stain problem happened to me the last time I tried to get a stain out of our satellite cloth. However I'm sure the first time I cleaned it I managed better and it left no mark.

After several goes at the recent stain, and only making matters worse, I resorted to getting the dealers valeter to clean the seats for me - not sure what they use but car came out spotless and no water marks.

I normally use Autoglym Interior shampoo or the hi-foam version. There is a 'trade' version called "Fabric Stain Remover" which probably does the job.

Anybody out there got tips on how to clean the cloth withoutleaving a watermark ?

For the new A2 we opted for leather to get around this problem !

I had all my seats treated, they also did the body work.(superguard i think) I know that this works as I had a small bottle of orange explode in the car one night when going to work. Cleaned it up the next day just wiped down with soapy water no stains. By the way seats are a beige/grey (well very light) colour. The car is now over a year old used every day and they still look good.

I’ve said it several times in the past, and will repeat again that the fabrics available to the A2 are basically rubbish. I simply do not understand why “better” options were never made available. After all its not as though Audi are incapable of offering a choice on quality/durability when they do so on all other models.

To clean seats you need to clean the whole area not just the stain.

If you are trying to remove a grease stain you need to use a solvent remover as water-based product will leave you a watermark.

Once clean use a fabric protector like supaguard and anything you spill will run off ( just like water off a ducks back)
