Stiff side wall 15” tyre recommendations please 195/55/15

I am happily running 195/55/15 tyres with Pepperpots on both tdi90s. Unfortunately they both need all 4 replacing at the same time.

One is running Falken ZIEX ZE 914 , the other Toyo Proxes TR1. I like the Falkens albeit running at 35/36psi while the Toyos seem over soft in the sidewall and I run them at 38psi.

These pressures seem to be disguising the fact that the sidewalls aren’t stiff enough - but I hate hesitation on turn in.

Unfortunately the Falkens are no longer available but a local fitter has recommended Tomket tyres.

Can anyone please recommend suitable alternative tyres ideally in this size.

At those pressures, are you sure the tyre's on road foot print is as it should be be? Running high pressure can easily cause the centre of the tread to be in contact with the road, while the outer edges are not. Can result in uneven wear, and overheating.
Either way, less grip.

If its these you fitter mentioned from Blackcircles, I would happily fit them to my Tdi at the price.

Foot print seems perfect with level wear with a little extra wear on the inside edges on the rear

Hesitation on turn in won't be helped by fitting 195/55 tyres to 6J rims. Many car manufacturers now fit this tyre size to slightly wider 6.5J rims...no doubt to get the steering feel that you are after.

195/55 5.5-6.0-7.0

It might be better to look at the 6.5Jx15 ET34 rims from an Audi A1.
