Ive been meaning to post a project thread and have fianlly gotten round to it!

this is my x reg silver 1.4 petrol a2, which was bought new by my grandad in late 2000 after he had seen the protyle al2 in germany while working over there and fell madly in love with the design. on its realese and return to the uk he bought two twins and my a2 was my grandmas, its twin is only on 8k miles!

its orignal spec is as follows
SE
chrome interior trim ( before it was made standard later )
windy rear windows
chorus
open sky ( has probably been opened about 20 times in its life until mine and was greased yearly by audi so is in mint condition! )
climate
ly7w paint option
6 spoke se wheels

currently residing on a milage of 90,012

for almost all its life its had a audi service with odd things reaplced such as accelerometers, rear alarm sounders, cccu, instrument cluster, and engie control units due to not hot starting, so quite a few gremlins in its first 10 years howver since 2011 hasnt had a single issue! in 2015 it even had a full new exhaust due to surface rust at the tune of 2.2k! in the covid years it went to the local garge for a oil change due but only covered 200 miles in those years! upon my ownership as a first car ive taken it back to audi for a cambelt and service but due to the discontuation of the lambda sensors it has visted wom who have done brake fluid, lambda b1 s2 and brake switch. before the wom trip i gave it a oil change as it was due (im surpised at how tricky it was to get to the oil filter than a tdi! ). in total this car when new cost 17.5k and has had 21k on servicing spent on it! the car is going in to dry storage in late august as i got to univeristy.

Lovely car Charles & you have cared for it well
All the best to you & Grand dad.

Evening Charles,

Cracking looking aluminium with plenty of sentimental value. Glad I was able to contribute in the smallest of ways to make the cabin feel a little updated. Great work and keep it up. You know where I am if you’re passing any time soon.

Kind regards,

Tom

Great looking A2 with a super spec. It reminds me of the Unicorn A2 story. Audi dealer (in north west I recall) liked them so much he ordered 2 for himself and put one in storage, unused and unregistered. A few years ago he died and the rumour is the unused one ended up in a museum in the USA.

Wow thats a speciala2 , that thread has a very sad ending to it.

The twin is still driven once a year to audi in London for its service so if you ever see a silver x reg near St Paul's that's the one!

I can help out o nthe arm rest bracket and plastics but will be a few weeks as I need to clear the last of the existing orders first

Paul

Thanks Paul, could you send me a message when you've got the bracket done. I've already fitted one from this batch in my 90 and it really helped with my drive to mallorca!
