Hi All,
I have a standard audi concert radio and cd player fitted to my A2, pic attached.
Does anyone have any suggestions please as to who and how I can upgrade this to a more modern bluetooth system that I can use with my phone?
I wait to hear,
Kind regards

Hi @timmus,
What does this blog or thread mean?
Timmus is another forum member who offers many install options for our A2’s including OEM retrofits.

Back to your question I like the blue music solution using your current OEM head unit which is easy to install yourself:

Stuart

To put some context into this, it is a fairly common question that comes up quite a lot... one simple response should be if you care about sound quality or OEM looks DO NOT fit a 3rd party non-oem head unit ...

There are many BT streaming options available, X-CarLink etc. which use your head unit as the amplifier and control module, and just pretend to be a CD player.

I fitted the Bluemusic + as seen fitted by @mtl on Youtube. Its totally stock to look at the stereo, but I can clearly make and receive calls and play music. Its not expensive and I'd highly recommend it. One word of caution though is there are cheap Chinese imitation available. These are rubbish. Ask me how I know!

Totally agree-in my experience majorly of aftermarket head units are rubbish, look horrible and are ridiculously fiddly to use. The original factory Grundig units are the best and excellent quality.

I ordered this the other day and fitted it earlier. Easy to fit, has a piggyback loom that plugs into the back of the stereo, and one ground wire that needs to be screwed to the stereo chassis.

Worked nicely on my 4 and a bit hour drive this afternoon, though worth noting you can’t play/ skip etc from the stereo buttons like you can with a CD changer, which would’ve been a nice touch, given it works by tricking the car into thinking it is the CD changer

EDIT:
It does work with the skip and fast forward buttons (I had been pressing the wrong ones as my phone holder covered them)

However, after having spent some time listening, the sound quality is not great. I expected the difference in quality from different Bluetooth modules to be negligible in the context of a car audio system, but the quality is distinctly worse than the radio, and flicking between the radio and Bluetooth the sound is slightly muffled and flat from the Bluetooth.

When I first installed mine I thought that I couldn’t skip via the stereo either, ur then later found that I could. In my case it was user error, on the double din symphony unit it’s the middle buttons for skipping, not the ones to the right of the unit.

Give it a try and see if that works 👍

It shows the skip symbols above the two right most of the station preset buttons, but didn’t seem to work when I tried it yesterday, I’ll have another play with it later on 👍

Same here, after owning bluemusic for a year I found out last week that I can actually use skip buttons to change stations on my android radio streaming app!
Thanks for the heads up, mine works too, I was just pressing the right most buttons which are infact the fast forward/ rewind controls as my phone holder obscured the skip buttons which are the middle two!
