do none of the audis come with electric rear windows?

on most cars you have a choice between leather seats or a nasty looking pattern, are the non leather a2 seats plain cloth or a tasteful pattern?

gav

The standard cloth I have is fairly plain with a slightly "waffled" finish. Be warned they are PIGS to keep clean. I would really recommend leather if possible - especially if you have young ones.

You can opt for leccy rear windows on most cars if you stump up the cash. I don't believe any A2 comes with rears as standard.

Move up to the A3 and they may become standard on some of the higher model 5 doors.

I thought I would like 'leccy rear windows then asked myself, how many times do I (or my passengers) actually open the windows ... so save yourself a few pounds (about £200 actually!)

I thought it would bother me too - not having rear electric windows, but you can reach both manual handles from your seat to check they are closed and with air con as standard, no one ever really needs to open the rear windows.

Had the rear electric windows in my former car -only to play with. And when I had some passengers in the back that weren't used to them, they played with them.

I agree with Tino and Stuart: you won't need them, especially if you have air con.

is that 200 for a audi option or £200 for a dodgy aftermarket kit?

the main reason i wanted it is because you can lock electric windows to stop small children (little b****rs) playing with them.

also works well with a full closure alarm module, i saw one of these on a 206cc which shut the roof, windows and locked the doors. biut of a sad reason really.

Am I alone in hating the 4 door A3? Looks like an A4 thats been rammed by a bus! :D

yoyoman; was it an audi option? as im most likely looking at a secindhand bargain so if I might look at dealer retrofit.

im quite surprsied that the a2 lacks little things like this to be honest. im off to the dealer today to have a proper look at one.

Had a courtesy car with rear electric windows for a while. Came in very useful for clearing that annoying film of dew droplets first thing in the morning from the comfort of the drivers seat!

Rear electric windows are also very usefull for stopping the annoying woop-woop-woop noise you get when you only open the front windows. Just open a rear one very slightly and it stops. Try leaning back while driving to do this manually and I'll help you put in the insurance claim.

Again if you have CC you don't need the windows down but personally I like having them down on a nice day even if I do have CC.

I think it was an Audi option but we bouhgt our Audi as an ex demo car who was almost a year old we bought it in march 2002.
I find that a lot of times when I want to open the front window that I press a lot of times the back windows button.

Gavin,

To pursue your point on interior fabrics I believe Audi missed out badly by not providing one single option for selecting a quality material. On the other hand I did find over 12 months that the leather always looked as good as new – although my dog always sat on a blanket.

On several occasions I drove a loan car with “Satellite” fabric. I thought it was dreadful, because when wearing thin trousers you could feel all the bobbles on the back of the legs. In fact if ever you are on the beach and see a scantily clad female with millions of red dots on her bum, then its likely that she does not have a fatal disease, but has travelled in an A2 over the past month.
