Twisted seat belts

In my recently purchased car, there are twisted seat belts for both the driver and passenger. I would like to do it as it should be but I am wondering how to go about it. If I can turn it in the buckle, then it will be twisted at the bottom. What should I do? Turn in the buckle and unscrew the lower belt fastener and screw it in the opposite way? I am posting a picture for reference. I'm wondering if this lower part of the belt goes as it should or someone messed up and screwed the other way around?

this question has arisen only recently - you need to unbolt the lower attachment, rotate the belt and then reattach - and as a bonus there is also advice on how to resolve sticky / slow retracting belts as well.

Best of luck!

It's a 17mm bolt down at floor level, which will probably need you to take the seat out (there will be threads on here with detail about how to do this). The end of the seat belt that the bolt goes through sits at an angle when correctly mounted. The belt is supposed to sit slightly twisted at rest, so that the buckle faces forwards, making it easier to reach to put the belt on.

Thank you for quick answers! I read the topic and 'Audifan; said that seat belt is correct. It does mean that i don't need to do anything. I am confused.

I couldn't visualise from your photos what your seat belt would look like unfastened, so I've just been out to my A2, where the seat belts are correct when at rest, as shown in that thread. Then when I fasten my seat belt with no-one in the seat, it looks just like yours. So no, you don't need to do anything :)

Thanks. It is very good information :) although the seat belts course looks different from the other cars i have ever seen that i was convinced something is wrong but is not.

I have been pondering this myself recently too. The seatbelts don't look/feel right IMO.
I am going to see if I can rotate the belt in the clip. If so, I am going to rotate the belt end 180degrees.

I will let you know how I get on. (If I remember to post!!!)
