Why can't we search for items with three character keywords?

What does everyone do, regarding searching for items that contain keywords of three characters?

Over the last month or so, been trying to search for ABS pump, or TRW drums... oil filter change... there's been more things, but can't think of them off the top of my head... Just seems a bit of a faff having to do a google search to find it.

Any word with three characters is omitted from the search, I thought the more keywords added will make the results list smaller?

Is there a technical reason we can't allow it?

Thanks.

It's a feature of the forum software. I imagine that three character words are omitted because that's an overly expensive search in terms of CPU resources on the server hosting the software. It's easier to discount words from the database that aren't e.g. 10 characters long than it it would be for shorter words, particularly if it needs to pick up results that start with or contain the sequence of three letters. There would also be a lot more hits returned for you to to search through. Imagine what would happen if you searched with something containing 'and' or 'the' ! Google with your search terms prefixed by 'a2oc.net:' is the way to go.

Thanks for that, I'm doing that in Google... but trying to ween myself off google, as it seems that the search bar has been tweaked and I'm no longer able to add/correct characters at the start of a search phrase, it keeps moving to the end of the phrase... annoying!

Tried to use 'Bing' but it's.... erhh... not google... 😂

Thanks again, yes, I've used this filters before, but was just trying to stop using other search facilities when there is one here.

That is the way it is. Alternatively the club could charge us all a membership fee annually to then help pay for a better search facility.

Just say thank you and spend a bit more time searching yourself.
