Wrong Spec - Happy Ending

Hi,

I had been waiting since May for my A2 1.6FSI, which eventually arrived at the dealer's last week. All seemed well until the phone call telling me that some of the options I'd ordered had been missed off the car - I had ordered quite a lot if the truth be told - but I didn't expect them to miss things like Climate Control and Symphony from the spec.

After just a few seconds silence the dealer offered to re-order the car immediately and said I could drive the one with the wrong spec, free, until the real one arrived. Not a bad offer really - 8 weeks free motoring in a new car with enough toys to keep me happy - OpenSky, DIS, etc.

Having driven it for a few days, I don't think I've stopped smiling once - should be even better when my car arrives.

JR - I'm glad you are smiling, but I hope the dealer does not believe they are doing you a great favour. What a cockup. One good thing is that by driving 2 diffrent cars you will eventually be able to compare if there are any diffrences.

I wonder if it was the Dealer's mistake, or Audi's? At least the Dealer was sensible in offering the loan of the car until the new one arrives.
It's interesting that the wait for a new car is so long, my dealer complained to the local Seat dealer (who rang for a bid on my car) that they had over supply, and were struggling to register the number each month that Audi demanded.
I wonder what the truth is? Was this just a reason to give a low bid, as I had already been to the Audi dealer wanting to change my petrol A2 for a Diesel. They would have recognised the car from the description. Their bif was much better than the one they gave Seat. Hmmmm.........

The dealer was very apologetic and said that even if it wasn't their mistake it was certainly their fault as they should have checked the spec to which Audi were building. My opinion is that Audi head office didn't put all the options from the order form into the computer - one whole column of extras was missing.

Still enjoying their car.
