I'm looking for a FSI sport but may don't have the spot lights as this I'm told was an SE spec.

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything in the forum - can anyone tell me if the spot lights are a simple retrofit?

Is the electric lumbar support standard on the sport?

Thanks

spot lights? what spot lights? Inside, i.e the map-reading lights?

Lumbar is not always standard, but there more often that not with sports seats IMO.

Do you mean fog lights below the front bumper? If so, yes.

Do you mean fog lights? Others will probably ask the same question, how often do you use the fog lights?

To the topic, they can be purchased as parts but comes in at over £300 IIRC. For something I wouldn't miss at all, it is a bit expensive.

Electric lumbar adjustment is a standard fit on all Sport models (and with Sport seats from 2003MY I believe).

Fog lights are an option on the Sport and are, in my opinion, a total waste of time, money and effort; I'd rather Audi fitted me a tissue-paper ashtray on the front wing which would have been more use. However, cosmetically they do break the front of the car a little, especially in black and cobalt blue. A few people seem to fit the fog lights without all the gubbins to get the 'look'. Not sure myself.

I wish Audi had put the fogs on the Sport as part of that pack and fitted 'leccy rear windows on the SE instead :(

Fog lights can be used as daylight running lights instead of the low beam.
Quite common in Scandinavia where DRL is mandatory.

Sorry I did mean fog lights, I doubt I'd use them much it's more of an aesthetic thing.

Thanks ULP, I'll take it as lumbar is standard unless anyone says different.

I so agree with you on that rear electric window (even though I have), took me so long to find an A2 with that. A £150 option, wasn't it?

Please, that's so tacky. Fog lights are for FOG and nothing else.

As per ULP's post, I'm one of the team who has fitted front fogs as an aesthetic upgrade and it looks great on the Sport model in my view. I bought a used kit from a fellow member and they are fitted without wiring or switchgear - I have no intention of having them wired up as advice from fellow members concludes that they are rubbish anyway! Search the forum on the subject, theres plenty of posts on this subject and a 'how to' guide if you decide to fit the full kit!
However, if you want better light fit a good set of HID's. :D

Can *you* tell the difference between foglights and DRLs in the same position?
Strictly speaking it's not EU-kosher, but it is tolerated and accepted as an alternative to DRL.

It isn't in the UK. The UK regulations on the use of fog lights are quite strict:

"226
You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves (see Rule 236).

236
You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves."

I for one am delighted that's the case as they are way brighter than DRLs and there's simly no need to drive with them on. For me it's just a pity the rules are rarely policed.

The current vogue in the UK is for people to drive with sidelights and foglights on when it's completely dark. To my mind it's an awful practice, looks stuipd and is just basically dangerous.

And yes it's very easy to tell the difference between proper DRLs based on side-lights located in the normal headlight cluster (or the fairy-LED-lights on Audis!), and dazzling fogs down in the lower bumper fairing.

Oh I dunno, front fog lights while denoting a chav are generally not offensive by virtue of the beam being focused to the ground and designed for intensity over a short stretch, unlike DRL's which are starting to get on my wick as their intensity is incredible. I'm sure it's not AC (Audi Correctness) to say this, but the DRL's on the Saab 9-3 are, in my opinion, a much more elegant solution than the crass Audi versions and have nowhere near the same amount of 'stuff you and your retina' integrity.

One thing that did catch my attention the other days is I'm sure the DRL's on a Xenon equipped A4 (i.e. proper DRL's rather than the Adidas-miss-a-strip affairs on the non-Xenon cars) 'dimmed' when he indicated which makes sense as you wouldn't be able to see the indicator through the intensity of the DRL's.

Not sure the aftermarket options cover the dimming.

Ulp I'm with you on this, I'm starting to dislike Audi's increasingly garish implementation of LED DRLs in various shapes/patterns/light intensity! Clever idea on dimming them when indicating.

So, what are the lights in the grill?
