Hi mate, If you open the glove box there may be a key switch into which you use the cars key and turn it off.
I understand that not all the cars had the option of being able to turn passenger airbag off.

Hi Scott
If your car does not have the key deactivation option, the airbag can be disabled by your local dealer or someone with VagCom. The only negative is that it has to be switched back on the same way - which is not ideal if you alternate between the baby seat and a front passenger

You can put them in the front once they're out of the rear-facing seats of course.
However you then run the risk of setting a precedent which means your partner will never be able to sit in the front with you and the boy in the car ever again!
