Open Sky & Fuel tank

Hi,

I'm new to this forum but hopefully someone can help. ;)

I've got the A2 1.4 TDI, silver, open sky, etc.

- I have the OpenSky system, is there any way I don't have to keep pressing the open- or close button to open or close it? Like a button to click once, so that it opens or close automatically?
If not, can this be modificated?

- I'm a bit disappointed by the volume of the fuel tank. I guess this isn't expandable; do many A2 drivers over here take an extra stand-alone tank with them, in case they don't want to refill at a gasstation? ;)

It may be possible to have a single shot opensky button with the clubs VAGCOM, but I'll let the experts answer that one!.

As for fuel-well it depends on how many petrol stations you have in your country-in the UK you don't normally need to carry fuel in a can, but it depends-I fill my car with Shell Optimax which can be slightly more difficult to get hold of.

Thanks for the reply. VAGCOM doesn't ring a bell so I'll do a google check. ;)

Oh, in the Netherlands we have enough petrol stations, but (I think) it would be easier to both fill up the tank and a 'secondary tank', which I lay in the back of my car. Now when I run out of petrol, I can just use the secondary tank to re-fill her.

It's just that I'm used to drive 750 km on one tank with my previous car, that's why I'm fed up with this little pain in the ass. ;)

But besides my OpenSky and fuel thoughts, I really love this car, just to let you know. ;)

My understanding of this isn't that good, but what I have seen of VAG COM is it is software on a PC with a data cable to the A2's management unit. Once "tapped in" you can make all sorts of changes-like locking the doors and boot when above a certain speed. This is why I wonder if there is a setting for the OpenSky.

Just as an aside, my Corolla has an electric sunroof, and it opens all the way with one press but when closing stops half way and then you have to depress and press the button-some Toyota person said it was a safety feature......not sure myself but I wonder if the OpenSky operates in the same way-some sort of safety device when shutting means you have to keep the button pressed?

Is that a normal feature for the Corolla? I thought my switch was sticking and was going to get it fixed!!

Well, you have to press and hold the switch to open and the press and hold to close, but when closing it will go half way and stop-you then release the switch and press and hold again until fully shut. A bit annoying, but then with climate why do they fit a sunroof-only used mine about 5 times!!

So yours is a one-press sunroof?. Maybe mine is dodgy!!!

Thanks for the VAG COM explanation, I'll check an Audi dealer/garage and ask if this is possible. I guess they will refer to the safety measure you're talking about: that it works now this way so it won't be possible to hurt yourself with one click on a button, althought you must be plain stupid then. ;)

I had a safety meeting that lasted for over 2 hrs this afternoon and one of the points brought up was that a set of stairs didn't have a yellow bottom step and wasn't visible.
Heeellooooo!!
What else do you find at the bottom of a set of steps - a drunk hippo??? I know common sense isn't common in everyone but give us some credit.
Health & Safety is a great thing but it does infuriate me sometimes.
