We will be in the UK from the 12th of December for a couple of days...arriving in Dover and heading up towards London to visit some relations before heading over to Ireland...it would be great to meet up you and some of the club... it would be great if we could organise something.
But as we have no idea where to find any of you guys....you'll have to maybe make a few suggestions as to what might be central or easy for you....nothing big just to have a chat.
And if you want us to bring anything over from Germany ...we'd be glad to .

p.s. Staurt please leave topic here...as most peolple will be able to see it.

Good Morning,

Sunday the 14th of December would be a good day for a meet up. Now we just need a location that is central or easy to reach for everyone... we don't know our way around the UK at all...so please make a coupl of suggestions and we can then go with the most popular one.

It would be very crowded, but lots of fun. I'm not sure that my wife would be very thrilled. We would have to buy a whole pack of biscuits. I've been forbidden to buy any more biscuits because I am accused of eating them all, I deny it of course (but it's me really).

thomas
29-10-2003, 07:24 PM
What kind of biscuits are we talking about her?? Just some boring old digestives?? Or are we talking about some chocolate hob nobs.... because it would have to be worth our while stopping by.

Hos many would fit in your kitchen then ? and how many teapots do you have... these are all serious considerations before such a tea party could be planned!!!

I've been working in Northampton for the past 6-7 weeks (commuting from London). Not sure if this is any help but there is a retail park that's off the A43 and easy to get to from the M1 and surrounding roads, called:

Riverside Business Park
Northampton
Northamptonshire
NN3 9HU

There's heaps of parking there and you can easily tuck yourself in a corner and keep several parking spaces to yourself without anyone noticing. Have a look at:

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=480000&Y=260000&width=500&height=300&client=public&gride=479316&gridn=261011&keepicon=false&coordsys=gb&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=NN39HU&advanced=&scale=100000&out.x=3&out.y=8

So, who else besides Thomas, Michelle, Lukas & Mary is going?

Thomas - There's a Pizza Hut and MacDonalds there! Sadly nothing else.

Darren - I used to escape to Riverside some days for lunch or get a few bits from the shops.

So, looks like we could have 5 A2s if Jon and Darren are able to come...already a mini social!!
Any other takers?!

Hi Stuart,

I just spoke to my cousin who lives in Northampton, and he only lives about 10 minutes from Riverside...he says there is a big shopping centre there, with a cafe place where we could aslo sit for tea / coffee...if nobody fancies Pizza Hut...but I think we can decide on the day !!
We would love to see as many as you as possible...Thomas promises not to dance naked on the car bonnets!!!

Having just spoken to the Trouble and Strife, we'll provisionally say yes as we have relatives we can visit as well in the Corby/Kettering areas. Kill two birds with one stone and all that!

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a 1.4SE petrol. http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/uk14.htm http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/safety.htm

So, just to confirm, currently we have going:

Thomas
Lukas
Rob - provisionally

5 A2s isn't a bad turnout for an unofficial mini social...is anyone interested in meeting up for a chat and bite to eat??

Yes I'll try to remember to bring the old black stickers with me.

I'm not sure what the best advice is to give you on avoiding the traffic on a Friday evening! Dick may be able to give you better advice. If it was me, I'd probably take the M25 North around the east side of London if I was heading for the M1. Either way I think you'll hit tons of traffic,

Not sure if Runboy (the Toyota guy!) can come - Steve?

Is someone winding me up ?

I live ONE MILE away from the Riverside Retail Park in Northampton, in fact I worked there for 3 years !!!

If you need to know anything just ask, you are quite right about Macdonalds and Pizza Hut, the large shopping centre is called Weston Favell and has a Tesco cafe etc

I should be able to put in an appearance but my wife is having a major op on the 3rd so she will have priority on the 14th.

It's worth mentioning that the car park at Pizza Hut is quite small, so if there's going to a 5 or so of us all wanting to park together, it may be better to meet at the back of the Homebase car park which is just next door to Pizza Hut. What do you think?

Hi Puma,

Weston Favell - there's a blast from the past. Reminded me of the time I lived in Northampton (circa 1990/1991) when I was a student at Moulton college. I lived on the Kettering Road opposite the racecourse. I remember there was a Ford garage next to Weston Favell.

Count me in. I'm dropping the wife off at her Nans in Kettering, then coming over to the meet - if I don't get lost.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.

not sure we can make it but anyone travelling north up the M1 afterwards is welcome to drop in to Nottingham email me for contact info - great places to eat, drink and be merry! or do a last bit of shopping or see a film.........Off topic, I have an interview down in Bournemouth next week - any A2 owners out there live in those southern parts? Any good Audi dealers for servicing?

Cheers for now

If they're still in the way, run 'em over.

Jon, I would suggest a micro-convoy but I'm going to be leaving early and going via Corby and Kettering, both there and on the way home - plus I don't think our A2 could handle another dash like the M4 blitz.

This is Thomas, I'm now in northampton. There was no problem with the French feckers, only the english lorry drivers.

See you all on Sunday.

I'm bringing my brother with me.

Nice to meet you Thomas and see Stuart and Jon again.

Red exterior, red interior sounds a bit over the top but in the metal its looks very good - not as good as black/red though obviously;)

Jon, yours is looking sweet now with the kit and windows.

Stuart, yours was just looking too damn clean and put me to shame.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.

Hi Guys,

well we're safely back in Germany...its one long drive...splitting it up is the only way to go..it also meant that we got to meet up with some of you guys! It was great to see you in person.

On the way back we drove straight...left Dublin at 4am; got the ferry from Roselare to Pembroke; ( short stop at Tesco) ; then drove the M4 down towards London...got a little lost trying to get on the M25.. and then on down to Dover; got the 8.30pm ferry from Dover to Calsi and then drove through France,Belgium and Holland to arrive back in Duisburg at 2am.....one long drive...the A2 has never needed a wash this bad!!
