Does anybody know if the A2 audio system is externally amped away from the head unit?

As far as I know, there is an external amp for the rear speakers below one of the footwells (passenger side on my LHD A2, donīt know if it is on the other side on RHD A2īs), and of course the Bose Amp is either there, too, or in the boot (have not checked that yet)

Bye, Frido.

Yes, the front speakers seem to be powered by the head unit (but only if you donīt have the Bose system)...

Frido

I don't suppose you've seen any RCA connectors going into the amp under the footwell?

If you have you may well have saved me a lot of time and effort :)

No, there are only Audi-Specific connectors leading to the amp, as far as I know....

Bye, Frido.

In theory unless they are a balanced RCA connection (which is very unlikely) then it will either be a low level (RCA) or a high level output (which seems unlikely as it's going to an amp)

I doubt Audi have gone to the bother of getting a bespoke connection setup to a non-standard amp..
I should be able to splice off the connectors and make an adapter off them..

Well I so anyway :)

Thanks..

Just FYI, I had a look yesterday and it's a small Blaupunkt amp and has high level inputs.. :(

Does this make the iso converter plug from CAD, that provides a low level output via the RCA`s obselete.

Nope, you'll still need one. You could splice off the high level outputs on the built in amp but it's not a good way of doing it.

I'll be needing that convertor too :)

Take it you didn`t fancy buying the external output lead & staying with the stock HU.

I have just ordered a Pionerr P77MP, Hoping it will look ok, Which Hu are you going to run?

As you seem very savy could you tell me where i could get an RB10 audio in for the Hu?

If you're talking about an adaptor for the Pioneer then any Pioneer stockist should do them :) Just call CAD they can normally source pretty much anything...

I will be staying with the stock HU though, until I can save up for my Nak CD 700Mk II... I've got a high end Alpine, but I loaned it to the missus and she's kind keen on keeping it..
