Does anyone know what the "offset" is on the standard 16inch SE alloys (see pic below)?. I also need to know what the "bolt pattern" is.
As far as i know the "bolt pattern" should be something like 5xSomeNumber, 5 being the number of bolts (i think).
I tried to look on the back of the alloys but i couldn't find the numbers. Any hints?

Hmm, found something on the net indicating that the bolt pattern is 5x112 and the offset is +38mm, is this correct?

The pattern is 5x100 for all A2 rims, the offset is ET 35 for the 6-spoke "SE" wheels, and ET38 for the 17" S-Line alloys... my vehicle papers also list 5Jx15 with offset 28, 32 or 34, 6Jx15 with offset 37... at least thatīs what is allowed here in Germany...
(the respective tyre sizes are 205/40R17, 185/50R16, 175/60R15, 165/55R15, 155/65R15)
The 5/112 is for other VAG cars...

frido - in your list of tyre sizes you have 165/55R15. I think this should read 195/55R15 as no one makes this size tyre, and even if they did, the outside diameter would be about 5% too small.
It's useful to know that the SE wheels have an offset of ET35. This is the same as the Polo uses, so no problem with swaps.
Another point to consider with wheels, is the bolt seat type. Audi/VW and Mercedes seem to be using the ball type. This is different to the 60 degree taper type that BMW are using.

I've read that there are some problems getting tires for the 16inch wheels, does the same go for any other dimensions?
I'm trying to sell my original SE 16" summer alloys and buy some 17". Will i have the same problems in getting tires for these wheels? Since the wheelsSize is the same as other VW/Audis, there shouldn't be a problem or what?

I prefer 195/55R15 to the 205/40R17 size, but if you want the 17" size, then www.mytyres.co.uk lists a number of them.

The 165/65R15 is one of my favourite tyre sizes. It's not out yet, but Continental tell me they will be available next month. It has an identical outside diameter to the 195/55R15 and I'm definitely going to get a set.
