Hi all,
After my last car was stolen, (I had a Seat Leon cupra).I am now searching for a replacement.
However, due to the massive mileage I currently do, I want an A2 Tdi sport (75bhp).. preferably not silver as that was the colour of my cupra. (misano red is good;))The A2 needs to have the 17" 9 spokes too (I have seen one or two sport models advertised with the 16"wheels). Low mileage etc, and also must be a bit of a minter...
Dealers are being very cagey about these cars and there arent very many advertised, and I am in the position of being able to pay cash for the right car.
What should I expect to pay for one which is 18months old, with 20k on the clock?.
anybody?

Pete,
My local garage, Wayside Audi in Milton Keynes, has an 03-reg demo A2 TDI Sport (75bhp) in Sprint Blue, with all the toys you mentioned (plus climate control, alarm, central/remote locking, Concert single-CD head-end) and only has 3K on the clock.
Asking price is £15,995. That said, since it is a pre-reg/demo, you can probably go in with an opening gambit of £12,500 (typical private sale asking price, so says 'What Car?' online used car valuation) and £13,000 as your top end.
Good luck!

That looks to be well over priced (unless its a 90PS version). Mine had 3k miles when I bought it and was short of £13k - it's an SE (with climate and CD), but IMHO the few extras on the Sport aren't worth an extra £3k. The Audi site has a few in the used section.

If you're referring to the dealer's asking price, I agree!
Also, the further north one goes, the cheaper the asking price (thus hopefully the final negotiated price). Indeed, I forgot to ask where Pete is located. Pete?

Cheers for the info.. all...
I'm up in the north east (Darlington), so I hope prices are cheap.
I am not wanting to spend more than about £10.5K so may have to sacrifice a little bit of age & mileage for the right car.
Not a lot of sport models available for that price at the moment.
I did want a sport tho.
I test drove a new 90Bhp tdi sport last week and really liked it.. It will suit my daily 160 mile commute...
Im sort of torn between an A2 tdi sport or staying with a SEAT and possibly getting an Ibiza TDi sport?
The A2 makes more sense because of the fuel economy.

I too got a little hammered by residuals, however... I had done way over the normal yearly average mileage. But cars arent exactly always your best investment anyway..
Im not looking to get flamed here for my comments, and Im not looking to start any arguements.
I would very happily have another SEAT... (there I said it again)... In fact because of the VAG most of the parts on my old Leon had Audi stamped on them, so In many ways some derogatory comments could be misconstrued as simple badge snobbery.
I was very happy with the car i had, and did enjoy driving my cupra every time i got in it. I was very unhappy to find that my car had been stolen, but that in itself is a sad factor of todays society and something we all have to live with and be aware of.... There are indeed likely to be differences in build quality between an Audi and a SEAT. I had a few problems with my leon, and more problems with some dealerships.. But that is also common to most manufacturers nowadays. Neither of these problems diminished my overall enjoyement of my former car.
Anyway, Im not looking to jump into the lions den and torn to pieces, but my opinions are my own. I am looking to get an A2, and hope to have a warm welcome into the community.
anyway..
Im still looking, and hope to have a car within the next fortnight. (august is a little too long to wait sorry)
Any help is still graciously received.

No worries was just chancing my arm agree with you over the seat thing! But it must be said my arosa sport rattled a little and had a few problems compared to nil with my A2 i have done 21k in it and it hasn`t been back to dealer apart from a faulty high level brake light and no reversing lights all of which was fixed first time with in the half hour they told me it would.

These days I don't think there is a really bad make of car, just lemons in all of them. I've owned 4 new SEAT's over the past few years (Ibiza x 2, Cordoba, Leon) and all together had no where near the trouble I had with one of My A2. Two have two duff A2's in a row is just bad luck and I bought a lottery ticket as I though my odds were up. Didn't win.
I probably would touch Audi in a few years providing my exisiting Audi dealer shuts down and is replaced with real people working in real life. That is what makes car ownership so much easier. I loved my A2-why else did I buy it in the first place.
Have a change Pete, hope that you get a decent A2 and enjoy it. But make sure you find a good dealer.

Any recommendations on dealer in the north east?... Teeside Audi is the nearest to me... Still waiting for a cheque to clear before I can commit to buying, but I have my eye on a nice red number!!!.
Any of you people found problems with the load space?... ie: are certain brands of childrens push chairs that definitely wont fit etc.
I should start a new thread to find out whats the worst thing about yout car... just an excuse to let everyone vent voices in a friendly manner.
:-)

Pete,
Good luck in finding an A2 TDI Sport at the price point you're looking for. If I come across one, I'll certainly let you know.
As to SEAT, like the Arosa, I had a VW Lupo 1.4 TDI PD Sport and enjoyed the ownership, right up until it was in an accident last week, and has now been officially "written-off".
I had a look at it, when I went in with my girlfriend, to pick-up the remaining personal stuff from it. Front is crushed, but the rest looked OK. Then when you had a look inside, you could see why the car was totalled. Frame was badly bent, interor gaps were everywhere (e.g. approx. two centimeters from the "parcel shelf" to the back of rear seats!).
Nonetheless, it was engineered well and saved my girlfriend's life from very serious injury! But I digress.
My girlfriend sister's Citroen Xantia is on its last legs, and we're going down to help her buy a replacement. In this case, the test drive and final negotiations on an 03-reg Volcano Red SEAT Ibiza 1.2S. Now if I can get the alloys thrown in for free...
