I am sure this has been mentioned before but can't find any thing. What oil is used at the long service and short service. eg 30000miles and 10000miles for a 1.4tdi, are they differant? And why go for the short service?
Do all A2s get the same option eg petrol and diesl?

Long life service uses Castrol SLX Longlife II, to VW 506.01 standard. Fixed service uses oil to VW 505.01 standard. They are different. Fixed intervals are better for drivers who do many short stop-start journeys as this type of use can reduce the variable service interval to less than the fixed interval of 10,000 miles. See http://www.a2forum.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2835 for more info.

Thanks for that
The only reason I ask is we have to use special oil in the Galaxy or else the warranty is void!
Also do you have to stick to one form of service or another or can you chop and change?

If the Galaxy has the 1.9 TDI engine its the same as used in other VAG vehicles hence the requirement for the correct oil. AFAIK you can chop and change between variable and fixed intervals with the Audi.

If you do this, say have a 10000mile service do you have to specify your next service will be 30000. If not, will they use some other oil? r do they just put 1 type of oil in?
