Appologies if this has been asked before....I've looked in the archive but couldn't find anything similar.

Few people discuss their dealers in the forum, so can I assume that most people are satisfied with their local dealer?

Could people rate their dealer out of 10 and say what they had done there eg. service, repair, puchase. and where it is:

I'll start it off:

Stratford-upon-Avon 8/10 Purchased car

Good post-I think we did this some time back but the post may well have been archived. I will make this one sticky so we can keep it at the top for a while.

PDI-2/10 (for item missed)

Franklin Leeds

Initial Enquiry - 7/10 (but 10/10 to Wakefield for telling me Leeds Audi had the model I was looking for, despite it not being on the stock list). The car was on loan so it took Leeds a while to get it in the showroom for me. Once I told them I was very serious the car appeared!

Purchase and Handover - 9/10 - pushed me in to having a finance quote even though I knew they couldn't beat the rate from work. Left me alone to check over the car before I accepted it.

PDI - n/a - car not new, but all problems noticed when I first looked were sorted including a coupe of minor stone chips, a kerbed alloy and a dirty mark on one seat. 10/10

Rectification work - carried out by Bradford Audi - replacement of number plate light lens (nothing major!). 8/10. Received a call two weeks after it was done to say the parts were in and they would fit them whilst I waited. Explained the job had been done two weeks earlier!

Dealer keeping me up to date with work - see above.

I've recently bought my ex-dealer demo A2 blue Colour Storm TDi SE from Alexander Audi, Huddersfield.
The salesman was very keen to do business and even came in from Leeds on his day off to arrange a test drive to suit me. They re-furbed the wheels, but left a mark on one of them, but this was very minor. The bodywork was good, but there were some chips to rectify-the paint only arrived after I picked the car up. Other than that, the interior clearly wasn't valeted, which put a dampner on the experience, but the deal was extraordirily quick- from initial walk round the car to picking it up in one week!

So far, service seems ok, apart from a few missed calls. Still in the 'honeymoon' period- and my mates can't believe what I'm driving now- previously Lupo TDi Sport & Arosa.......

Vincents Audi (Exeter, since been bought out by another garage group who seem less communicationally challenged)

Initial enquiry: 5/10.
Salesman knew nothing about car. Test drive accompanied but reasonably long and with varied road types. Dealer not remotely interested in closing sale, offering a massive £0.00 (0%) discount off list price.

Warranty repairs: 1/10.
3 x Symphony II replacements, each with more faults that that which preceded it (last one excepted, of course). Months of chasing up order/delivery etc. of replacements with many a promise of phone calls but never received one. In fact, I'm still waiting for a call back from my initial test drive enquiry...

------------

Whetstone Audi (North London) - via DriveTheDeal.com

Purchase and handover: 8/10.
Notwithstanding confusion over insurance for licensing not bad at all, unhurried demonstration of almost every aspect of the car. Decent deal too, saving me about 9% off list. Wasn't pleased about being made to hang around for 30 minutes before collection due to understaffing.

PDI: Fine but they obviously didn't check to see if the CD player was functional as I discovered 110 miles later :(.

Have also posted this under whhel and tyres, but thought that it was relavant here too:

'Well praise where praise is due. I have to say this is not about my A2, but it is worthwhile!

My better half and I went up to Grantham on Friday for the weekend in his Allroad. Would have taken the A2 but we had luggage for 4 days and honestly, didn't want his muddy golf clubs in the boot! Anyway, pumped up his tyres at our local garage and thought the guage may have been wrong but didn't check it at another garage - stupidly.

We were 50 miles away from the hotel on the A1 in the 3rd lane doing about 80 when the tyre blew out. Managed to get off really quickly and the tyre was totally knackered, luckily no damage to the wheel. So changed the tyre and went on our way to Grantham.

Decided to find a local trye dealer on the Saturday morning. Phoned round and being an unusual tyre, of course nobody had one. So I called Audi Assist who gave us an Audi dealers number in Lincoln. I thought it might be worth a try to see who they use locally for tyres. Spoke to a really nice guy, Johnnie, in parts who said that they had 4 tyres on the shelf, come in and they would would put them on straight away!

Well, I was amazed! So off we went, greeted by a lovely lady on reception who got Johnnie out straight away, he came out a took the car in immediately! They also put the car on the machine to check a fault light which came on just before the blow out, checked all the other pressures and then sent out their senior technician to assure us that everything was fine.

The cost was very good, but the service was superb. So well done Lincoln Audi!

It is so refreshing to find somewhere efficient with good staff in all departments. Really would consider taking my car there if I was up that way when it was due for a service. Other half said the Audi golfs balls were cheap too....... '

Finally collected my car last week, so I can now answer the question I postde all those months ago:

Stratford-upon-Avon Audi

Initial enquiry-8/10: took the effort to source the exact vehicle spec I wanted to order.
Purchase and handover-10/10: quick, easy, efficent, gave me enough time to check the car over but didn't waste my time telling me stuff I already knew.
PDI-8/10: all ok other than anti-hijack option not setup on vag-com

Overal 8/10: Good dealership

Swindon Audi & Millhouse Audi in Bath

Both have proved that they can give good service (and a little forgetfulness!) from their respective service depts.

Bath is better than Swindon in the Sales dept - Swindon I have found to be hopeless here.

Note: The valeting and external cleaning at Swindon Audi has generally been superb - on the last visit for warrenty repairs they even dressed the tyres. The car looked soooo good!!

My experience has been mixed. They always seem to be telling me off, maybe its cos I only onw an A2 and not a new A6 or A8. They never offer to pick the car up or drop me off and I know my parents get this whenever they take their Peugeot in.

Having said this they did fix my car quickly last time. Lead time on a temporary loan car was about 3 weeks. As my A2 has been in five times in seven months this is a hastle. Made me glad I had an A2 and not an A3 though as the car they leant me was horrible. Love my A2 even more now!

Brought car from Stratford Audi,

Pre Sales 10/10,
Delivery 10/10,
After sales 1/10 (messed about with my own stuff in car like radar detector then denied all konowlege as they would not have touched a non Audi acessory (liars dam lairs))

Beechwood Audi Halesowen,
Warranty work 1/10, clearly a customer who complains of the same problem 3 times and is fobbed off 3 times then has a major failier with the same item which is then fixed has the car delivered back sratched with a tyre which was damaged by their tyre fitter and could have been picked up had the dealer road tested the car before returning it is not entilted to be a wee bit pissed off at all.

Sutton Coldfield Audi,
Warranty work 5/10.

we are getting there slowly, failing to keep records of bookings, no faulting several times before fixing and persitant lack of parts (realy Audi UK at fault here) aided by some good staff trying to please and hindered by others who do not read job cards and loose bitd of the car.

Hartwell Audi Bham,
Pre Sales 0/10, don't do test drives except 15 min booked in advance (would not get you off the car park in rush hour!)
Parts, Was 2/10 (did not give a stuff, never had stock, took special orders then canceled them), new parts operation willing and helpful, but slow and loose small special order parts so 5/1

Audi Customer service 1/10, left out in -5 deg for 4 hours waiting for taxi, refused hire car as I was stranded at home and never, ever pass on messages when phoning, even loose faxes for 24 hours after sending them. Some help when pushed very hard.

Andrew, you sound even more pi***d off than I am with Audi service, Surely if you buy an up -market car you expect up-market service. They get one bit right, they charge sky high prices for Service, a misnomer if ever there was one. My dealer is always "on the other line, we'll ring back", they never have in over 3 years ownership of the car. Good car though.

Northampton Audi (Vindis).

Took my A2 in twice for the same problems (noise when pulling away and window sensors being over sensitive).

The first time it came back the windows failed to open at all and I had to drive with them permanently shut for two weeks until they could "fit me in again". They denied there was a noise.

Second time they managed to fix the windows, but again denied there was a noise (even though it is commented on by nearly everyone who has travelled in the car with me).

The next week I got a follow up customer service call from the dealer asking if I was happy with the service I had received. I explained that I was extremely unhappy with the service and that they had messsed me about and had still not fixed one of the faults. The receptionist lady apologised profusely and assured me that she would get the service manager to call me back. That was over a month ago and still no call back.

The only positive thing I could ever say about them is that the last time they had the car they gave it back with a rather nice "Snap-on" screwdriver under the passenger seat!

I won't being using them again, which is a shame for them, as I am planning to update my A2 in the near future for an A4 Avant.

From reading this and the other posts on here you have lived up to the image of a typical Audi dealer over here. For your information they are seen to be a bunch of useless lying b*****ds.

There are two other reasons why I wouldn't use Desert Audi - It is a few thousand miles too far away and you would not have a clue what to do with the car. But then as I said - you fit the image of a typical Audi dealer!

Superb, booked in with loan car A2 90TDI did all requested, including some items I forgot to mention when booking in, car presented clean, they actually called me to say when car was ready. They run a good 3 for 2 service offer which cost me £550 and the way things are going will last me up to 96000 miles before I have to pay for a service (cambelt change sadly not included) this is based on 24000 miles per 2 years on the service indicator schedule.

Dont want to go on about audi customer service... I had a fixed service cost on my Audi a2 which was transfered from its previous owner. my paperwork arrived saying that I had 3 years or 75,000 miles service cover. (I thought it was excellent)...

My car went in for second service at 66k miles, and I had to pay for it (£450)... The customer services had sent me the wrong paperwork (which was sthe std letter for an A8)...

Letterhead had my name, my car, my registration, the 75K or 3 year bit (whichever sooner)and one small statement in the letter which actually said A8 and not A2.

I had querried the letter before the service and they had said that it wasnt a problem as my reg and details were on the letter.

Their clerical error cost me dearly. The offered a token gesture of £150 as a sweetener, which after serious wrangling I eventually took.

Please be wary if you have this fixed service cost, as you will probably only get one free service.

Bradford Audi are very courteous, as they also give you a free tin of mint imperials everytime I go in there!! My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw their hourly rate though!!.

Wakefield Audi have been nothing but unhelpful every time I have been in there.

Swindon Audi - excellent service so far. Generally get plied with coffee and offers of assistance as soon as I walk in - as I usually go down there in boots, work jeans and t-shirt, so that's commendable. I suspect the response at a BMW garage would be rather different.

the real test will be any warranty work, and when the cars get older - so far the only dealings have been viewings/test drives which resulted in buying two new cars in the space of a year..

...hey.. maybe they put something in the coffee... [18]

Hitchin Audi

Initial enquiry - 7/10. OK, but never felt my sale was wanted. Test drove a petrol, which I didn't like, but there was no follow-up call or anything.
Purchase and handover - 8/10. Purchase was fine, but more information on the various bits of equipment would be nice at hand over. No spare oil and the mats didn't arrive for another 3 weeks!
PDI - 5/10. Not sure it ever happened. 2nd key missing, tracking out and a 'gouge' out of the front left tyre. Had to go back to resolve these
After sales - 7/10. Efficient and professional, but the need to go back a few times is a pain (when new tyre was fitted, the wheel slipped on the machine, scraping it)
Overall - 7/10. OK, but so far no better than my Fiat dealer, which is not what I was expecting! Certainly a cut above the smart experience, but Mercedes dealers are a different brand of idiots altogether...

Help!! probs with Audi from main dealer
Hi, I have just purchased a Used Audi A2 from an Audi main dealer. The dealer provided a HPI certificate, the certificate had the car down as a 3 door (it is in fact a five door) , loss of confidence number 1. Looking at previous service sheets they had the mileage down as 15,000 more than was on the clock, lloss of confidence number 2. After looking further at the service sheets the car had indeed been in an accident and not repaired by an Audi dealer, dealer said he wasn't aware the car had been in an accident??? loss of confidence number 3. The car has now been sent back due to a cracked anti-roll bar, again down on one of the service sheets but never repaired, total loss of confidence. How do I stand in retreiving my money back? Paid for the car 5 days ago. Any input much appreciated.

Vehicle not as described, you should reject it and inform Trading Standards.

Rob Earl
10-08-2005, 08:05 PM
Under the Sale of Goods act 1979 you would be able to reject the car. The car is not of Satisfactory Quality and has been misdescribed to you before purchase. As far at the Service log showing more miles than on the clock, this would be a matter for your local Trading Standards and Police as it could indicate a clocked car and this is covered under the Road Traffic Act. Trading standards would also be interested in the anti roll bar as this could be a safety issue. The HPI cert would indicate to me that it was indeed incorrect and should have been checked more closely by the Dealer. However if you did not specifically ask the dealer at the time of purchase whether the car had been in any accidents then they have no legal obligation to tell you regardless of any HPI done on the car. For further information or guidance you can ring your local consumer direct helpline on 08454 040506. My practical advice to you would be to write a letter and send it recorded delivery stating your story as you have above and state that you are rejecting the car (do not use it anymore) and ask for your money back within 7 days. The reason for this is so you don't lose your cool on a face to face interview and you also then have proof of what was written and when delivered if this ever needed at a later date. Let us know how you get on.

You can look at letter templates here to give you any help/ideas if needbe. http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/complaints/letters.shtml

As a sideline for my wifes essay above, from our own experience, HPI checks do not always show when a car has been written off. Our first A2 was rolled and written off but HPI checks came back clear - a member of this forum almost bought it but checked a bit deeper luckily.

Totally agree, you have right to reject car under the sale of goods act. The dealer claiming not to know the cars history is unacceptable in law. You are entitled to all your cash back (but they will try to steer you into accepting a credit note for any car on their forecourt up to the value of your sale, which in this case you don't have to accept). Stanstead and Hitchin are part of the same group (along with Colchester) and in my limited experience things do get sorted.

Good luck, but you should be fine. Which A2 did you get as I looked at a few in the dealer group?

I bought my 1.4 petrol A2 from Harper and Hebson, Carlisle, they are Audi approved used dealer! The service was 10/10. Car 7 months old when bought 2004.

First service taken to Smith Knight Fay, Bolton - service 10/10. They picked it up from work and brought it back valeted!

First problem (emmissions) taken to Alexander Audi, Huddersfield.
First they said I wasn't entitled to a hire car if the car stayed in - v.bad cust. service! 1/10
Then their 'top 2' ADT's looked at the car and found no fault! Drove car to work next day, light on again - obviously a fault!

Taken back to S. K. F, Bolton, they got me a hire car, no questions asked, and kept mine in for a week! They brought it back to me at work, and took the hire car back for me!
10/10 for service!

9 days later problem came back on motorway - taken to Alexander Audi , Hudds.
This time they took the car in and replaced the ECU, and valeted the car.
Although I had to ask, they provided me with a hire car! 6/10 getting better!

Although I nearly changed my car for another make, even though I do like it, I have decided to give it it's 5th and final chance!
Please tell me this is just a glitch!!!!! Has anyone else had any emmissions probs?

I would also like to rate Audi Breakdown call Centre! They are rubbish! When I broke down on the motorway, I gave them my location, in which they proceed to give the wrong info to the RAC Patrol! This resulted in me nearly catching hypothermia, after waiting 1.5hrs on the highest m/way in England!
Hats off to the Highways Agency for providing me with a Space Blanket & rain cape!
And also to the RAC Patrol man!

Sorry this is sounding like an award cereomy speech!

Signing off my ramblings now!:)

Crawley Audi, have provided a good experience so far. Purchased "Karl-Heinz "November 5. 2004. A2 .90tdi se. in silver. Exemplery sales demos. Requested to try 75 and 90 diesel and was rewarded with both of them lined up ready to run at the appointed hour. Salesman was great, so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the product.
Handover as you would expect and product with no faults. Follow-up for satisfaction and understanding of the car was quite extraordinary.
Car has been perfect and has only suffered a front wheel puncture which my wife didn't even know she had due to the electronic balancing and drove 20 miles shredding the tyre. I know what your thinking but instrument panels are not really on Jans list of priorities. Anyhow the RAC arrived within 20 mins of the call and did the gunk thing.
New tyre was incredibly expensive for such a small wheel,:D but hey ho the missus was safe.
Ordered space saver wheel from Audi Crawley. Done and dusted within a few days.
So I for one have no complaints with Audi so far but I'm old enough and wise enough to know things can change but my rating is 10/10 with one year gone.

Hi old git, can you tell me how much the space saver was. I was advised by Audi dealer that I could not have a space saver fitted in my A2 as I had the wrong boot interior and it would not fit. I have the gnk stuff but would prefer a space saver. By the way I don't live that far crawley Audi but never used them always gone to Sidlows

Look at the post space Saver wheel, two below this one and posted yesterday. Then print it, roll it into a tube and stuff it up the dealers............ Honestly the Cr*p we get told by dealers.

On the subject of Dealers, I thought it only fair to praise Chelmsford Audi on all counts so far.

The initial vehicle inquiry was dealt with in a fully professional manner. There were no pressure sales techniques and the vehicle detail given over the phone by the salesman, fully matched the spec and standard of the vehicles condition in the flesh.

I arrived in Chelmsford after travelling from Milton Keynes for my test drive to find that the vehicle had undergone a full valet and I was treated as though I was about to purchase a vehicle twice as expensive by the salesman.

I was taken on a good fifteen minute test drive, which encompassed a wide variety of road conditions, so that I could get a true feel for the car. Upon our return and before we even began negotiations the salesman ‘told ME’ that they would repair the slight kerbing on one of the alloy wheels. [I hadn’t spotted it and still had to look close to find the damage; ‘slight’ was literally the word for it]. Most impressive an honest salesman I thought!!! [Is there such a thing??].

The collection process was also excellent. The car was ready and waiting, having had yet another valet which included a polishing of the black plastic trim. The alloy wheel had been repaired to an excellent standard, the velour mats were in place as was the touch up paint and the spare wheel. All documentation [PDI, log book, etc.], were also ready and the hand over process went as smooth as the A2’s aero dynamics.

After sales - [I]An area where all Dealerships usually falter.

Once again Chelmsford Audi score top marks. Having removed the rear seats to test out the A2’s versatility when I arrived home, I found that I could not get them to lock back in position. A call to the Chelmsford Dealership brought plenty of advice and follow up calls from the salesman and the service manager. [Eventually had the problem sorted in minutes at Wayside Audi – Milton Keynes].

Lastly, [having read a huge number of the threads on this forum], I realised that I did not have the first aid kit or the warning triangle in the car. A call to the same salesman last week; saw a new kit ordered and to top it all it has even arrived registered post today. [No quibble, no problems]. Considering that I had owned the car for almost seven weeks prior to making the call and combine this with the fact that I live no-where near the Chelmsford Dealership, I can only commend the service that I have received.

Wayside Audi of Milton Keynes have also adopted a polite, helpful and professional approach during my dealings with them to date.

Both score 10 out of 10 ‘so far’. To be continued, however………. :)

[Phew, I need a drink after all that typing. I am sure this post will be a cure for anyone suffering insomnia, apologies for the waffle].

Regards,

Darren

So sorry, searched everywhere for the invoice but can't find it. If it turns up will advise you. Don't really understand why you can't have one in your boot. Ours is fitted under the boot floor in a load protection system which is a tray that fits above the battery and tools and doesn't cause any grief sliding about or anything. We didn't order the compressor as we thought the RAC would do all that and the price was hideous. Load safety system cost £70. Jeremy Fisher was our salesman and so helpful, give him a call, sure he will help you. Regards.

Hi everyone , i love the site !.
First time on so go easy on me !.
Just thought i would let any members know who live in the Manchester area i have been looking for an independant Audi garage for servicing ( to save giving my cash away to the stealers ! ).

I have found a garage called
Audi only
Providence Works
North Street
Miles Platting
Tel 0161 205 2732

I've been quoted approximately £108 + vat for the first service on a TDI and £ 56 + vat for a brake fluid change.
Hope this of use to someone.

Dale , 2004, A2 TDI 90 , silver, cd, climate winter pack, front fogs, dis, rear bench

That certainly seems like a very good price indeed. Make sure they are using the correct specification oil, as this alone can cost near £40-50.

Robinsons Norwich.

pre sales 10/10
hand over 10/10
service department 2/10
(based on two visits and on both occasions had problems!)

Overview.

Initially I was pleased and still am with the A2 (far better than my Merc Aclass) and thought that Robinsons audi was different to Robinsons Merc who were absolutely rubbish. But I am now discovering their (and most of these dealerships) weakness and that is the service department.

Hi Doc!

Sorry to hear of your problems with Robinson's Audi in Norwich. I've vowed never to return to some garages and know how rare it is to find a garage we trust and enjoy dealing with.

However, my experience with them has been first class with respect to servicing and repair on my A6 1.8T tiptronic. I can honestly say that in over 220,000 miles, apart from timing belts, tyres, brake pads and discs, and consumeables (filters, fluids etc.) the car has needed just one new turbo, and two replacement oil pumps. It still drives as smoothly as ever and looks first class.

This is testament to the amazing design and engineering that has gone into the A6. But to give Robinson's credit they have looked after it for the past four years. Every time the service department has been polite and efficient, provided me with a courtesy car, picked up and dropped the car off at work, or given me lifts depending on which I preferred. The work has always been completed efficiently and to a high standard and the car returned in immaculate condition (washed and hoovered).

So 10/10 for service!

I enquired about an A2 just a few weeks ago and looked at a 1.4 (petrol) SE in very good condition. I had just called in one lunchtime just to see what they had and again was treated courteously and efficiently. Unfortunately they didn't have a 1.4 Tdi in stock.

However I was smitten with the A2, rang Kings Lynn Audi to enquire about a 1.4 Tdi and arranged a test drive. The car was immaculately presented, just cleaned and valeted. I was given the keys, asked how long I wanted the car for and sent on my way to enjoy myself. On return I was impressed with the sales staff knowledge of the A2, it's history and their general enthusiasm for the car. Needless to say I was readily parted from my money and am collecting a 2005 (05 reg) 1.4 Tdi special equipment tomorrow.

So far so good and, hoping I'm not tempting fate, 10/10 for Kings Lynn Audi as well.

Now for Robinson's (Norwich) Skoda!!! It's hard to understand how garages in the same group can be so different. The same experience you have found with Robinson's (Norwich) Mercedes. Their service is expensive and rarely completed satisfactorily. They are not responsive to customer requests, have failed to provide estimates and quotes, were unable to provide a replacement key and correct the immobiliser problems and lost a sale just recently simply because of their complete lack of interest when I visited their showroom!! So 1/10 for Robinson's Skoda..though I guess no ones interested in that one!

Hi Paul,

I thought it might be worth detailing the two visits to clarify my problems (just for general interest!)

First occasion I visited to arrange some small problems for warranty work. Booked the date and arranged for a car, emailed and confirmed to them.
One day before had a call to say that a car was not available...wanted me to change my diary (as if it was my fault) until I reminded them that I had confirmed by email that I required a car!.... line went quiet, booking went unchanged.

Second occasion I had my car in for warranty work, was given a car, confirmed that I could collect car between 3-4pm. Arrived at 3.30pm was told that work was still being carried out and wouldn't be finished until 5.30pm but could not be certain.( he did drop the comment that they were going to call me earlier!) I am left after rushing across the city with daughter to be told this! They said i could keep the car until monday but this did not account for my time where a simple call would have saved hours of my time.

Two simple cases of poor communication and, I guess, requiring staff to use their initiative.

So, I do have an appointment with their service manager to discuss these points but hopeful that lessons can be learned.

I am still more than pleased with the car and Audi Robinson's Pre contract team and hope that you enjoy as we do the driving experience of a unique design of car. I guess the more confidence built up between the company and yourself prior to purchase builds up your expectations that it will continue once you are the owner, this requires complete teamwork throughout the organisation and car selling process.

Not too sure about Audi Teesside as yet.
Picked up my 51 plate A2 tuesday. Had 2 scratches on passenger door, and even tho I paid for the Autoglym lifeshine, the inside was not as clean as you would think. Just noticed yesterday, the glass on the speedometer is loose, hence, it stops the needle reading correct speed.
Booked it in for next week to have these sorted, but feel 2nd class for buying a 2nd hand motor if you know what I mean.Left messages for the salesmen to ring me back when he's busy, never did. And when I approached another salesmen because the one I dealt with was busy, he just turned and walked away.

What a fab topic-having had numerous dealings with various Audi dealers i feel i must comment on a few:

Wayside Milton Keynes-bought a second hand TT from them and had 10/10 service from them inc when they replaced the clutch under warranty and it had an AMD chip fitted!!! Without any doubt they have deffinatly been the best audi dealer i've come across, would have bought my A2 from them but they didn't have the model i wanted.

Hitchin Audi-atrocious, when i needed warranty work carried out on the above they weren't interested 0/10 (and the service reception guy was a complete K**b!!!) They were very unhelpful and a colleague wanted to buy a new TT from them and they were just as bad!

Vindis audi cambridge-purchased my A2 from them, and they gave me a good deal on my TT, good handover etc, flowers for the mrs etc, even tho on handover the salesman didn't know how the service flap opened 8/10

Sidlow gatwick-have been to them numerous times for warranty bits inc 3 stereos and i've had excellent service from them even tho i was charged £70 to change a headlight bulb and £530 for my first variable service 8/10.

Hope this helps in the survey

Sidlow Gatwick gave me good service to start with but it then declined (think it was because the usual receptionist left) Went to Harwoods at Five Oaks and they were great. Only went there for a wiper blade but they offered me coffee while I waited for someone to fit the new wiper for me at no charge.
Would never go to Audi dealer to get head light bulb changed I just called out VW assist and they did it for me no problem and it only cost me the price of the bulb

Hi,
Vindis Audi Cambridge have always been really good to me sorting out warranty and non- warranty problems. Have replaced bulbs at cost of bulb only and freed stuck electric window for free. Also valet car every time they have it!

Vindis Audi Huntingdon where I bought car were great during purchase but service department were terrible, I had to take car on 3 x 100 mile round trips to have fan belt replaced under warrenty and they still didn't fix it right.

Stansted Audi took 6 hours for a while-you-wait MOT, did beautiful valet job but got water in the electric window causing trip to Vindis Cambridge for help.

Reading Audi

Initial enquiry-10/10 (well they do like selling cars!)

Purchase and handover-8/10 needed quite a bit of haggling on price

PDI-2/10 (did not tell me about the nail in the rear tyre)

Phone availibilty of service desk -2/10 (next to impossible to get hold of)

Dealer keeping me up to date with work-0/10 (I generally ring to find if car finished)

Service itself -5/10 average if pricey

Another good report.

I bought my A2 Tdi 90 SE from them unseen. The sales team were very helpful, flexible on price and the car was immaculate and perfect. The paperwork was similarly done carefully and properly.

They even delivered it to my door here in Edinburgh at no extra charge.

Initial enquiry-10/10:

i rate these as pretty good on servicing and warranty work. They are very accomodating and knowledgeable. The senior technician is vgood and professional from my point of view and my wife lieks them whihc is no small achievment for a garage as many women feel a little on edge when they go to gargaes( or am i patronising?? - sorry dont mean to).

High purchase pries whihc is why ididnt buy there. I think non sytner garages will offer the best deals eg Links AUDI and coventry and others

Guys MY TROUBLES WITH TONBRIDGE AUDI

Been at Tonbridge Audi the whole week and still no joy, i would give the car back but hey i just love it, doesnt matter not the end of the world i guess i can work out the MPG myself on paper.

This just happens to be the end of it i would not recommend Tonbridge Audi to anyonel.

Another sarger with Tombridge Audi the salesman told me he would send the car in for a service before it gets delivered to me, and guess what he didnt, told me that the computer in the car said that the next service is due at 8800miles therefore they would not service it!! they only would do it if it said 5000 miles or less. He also told me that i would have to bare the cost of the next service.

But at the time i did the deal i was also told that the car has a 20,000 mile service interval therefore i brought the car with the insumption i would not need to worry about the service for the next 20,000 miles.

But now i need to service it in 8800 miles, so i told him that i wasnt happy and that i would not buy it!!! I was very close to telling him to stick it up his A*SE!!! THEY HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE !!!! I had other issues also with regard to the road tax its just been a nightmare!!!

After a serious conversation guess what all of a sudden my next service is not FREE of charge!!!!

Well what else can i say ?? oh i was given a free Audi bath robe as a gift and he said to me its the little things that count!!!!

I never got any Audi keyrings with my keys but was promised that they would be put in the post to me as soon as they get delivered!!!!

lets see!!!

Wow Harry, and you haven't even reached the "service department" experience yet:eek:

I found the sales side OK on my purchase (official handover, flowers etc) ,after some poor communications from my service department things have improved but thats because I only speak to the service manager now.

Likewise, my A2 is the best car that I have had.

Note in diary......must ask if there are any Audi bath robes going at the next service;)

My drivers door was a bit "notchy" on opening and closing, needed a new bottom hinge they said......218 quid later and 3 weeks it was done. I asked them to ask Audi UK for assistance with the cost as I had never had a door hinge go in 50 years of car ownership let alone a prestige very low mileage car(I use the volvo most). Apparently the answer was well,.....a soldiers farewell. It cost £60 to paint the hinge, I offered to do it with a spray can but they said it had to be to Audi standards....and you can't even see it!
But they were friendly and helpful.

I was speaking to a business acquaintance yesterday with a BMW, he's looking for a new car, I said Audi are generally very good cars but the dealers and prices are abysmal, so he's looking elsewhere.

Sorry,long winded,but........Teesside Audi.

Been having trouble past 5 or6 weeks, alarm going off, doors not unlocking, hazards flashing erratically and interior lights the same, with the help from Spike and reading the forums, it was either the battery running down or the convenience module.
Few days ago, rear doors and boot would not unlock and could'nt stop the hazards/interior lights flashing.Rang Teesside Audi, could not book me in for a fortnight if I needed a loan car but could book me in 5 days later for them to have a look,so booked it.However, decided to drive thro from D'ton, approx 9 miles, lights still flashing etc (everyone beeping and pointing  ) parked it in their forecourt and asked if someone could stop the lights,or even just look at it.Sorry, too busy, phone Audi breakdown, they would look at it and give me a replacement car until it could be fixed. :)
Car seemed to right itself on the way home so never bothered, but called at my bro's garage, popped it on his Bosch computer, showed faults on the doors and control module, cleared the faults and it all seemed sorted. All started again next day. Today, after RAC had been out over the weekend (could'nt help) I rand Audi breakdown who sent the Audi technician on a 100 mile round trip to where I was working,a mile from Audi Teesside, told him what Teesside had said..not happy, told him the symptoms, looked at the interior light and said it was the central control module, took it out, confirmed it (constantly clicking) he rang Teesside Audi, all this in 5 minutes, within 10 mins they rang me back, part has been ordered and its going in on Thursday.

So......... Audi Technician....Top Marks (and a nice chap :) )
Teesside Audi.......Nil !! Receptionist in the service dept is more interested in doing her face paint and filing her nails

:(

I'll keep this short okay;

For new car sales only - they are both very good (not excellent), but for used car sales/aftersales/customer service/general servicing they have to be among the worst I have ever encoutered, both with my office A2, fathers A6 and my old TT.

Simply shocking behaviour and bare-faced daylight robbery with incompetence of a magnitude previously thought infeasible!

I started at Edinburgh Audi (Glenvaragil) and then regularly had to travel to Stirling as I though Edinburgh so inept, finally I settled for any approved repair centre where you can talk to the chap you are dealing with!!!

I have had occasion to call upon the regulatory might of Audi Customer Services who have received all manner of complaint from myself regarding these 2 particular dealers (as well as many from the TT forum) however they close ranks and do all they can to stay in bed together.

They have single handedly tainted my Audi experience.

(oops so much for the concise rant . . . and I thought I was over it all too . . . )

Suffice to say - please avoid them if at all possible, it will save YOU hassle and money in the long run.

Wayside Audi - Milton Keynes.

Sales - Very good, never had a problem with sales side, always keen to talk and come back with a competative offer.

After Sales - Just dont do it, if you are that keen to experience pain book a session with your local dominatrix or just swallow razor blades as both will be more pleasant than dealing with these. THe girls on the reception are great, they look nice (V nice in fact), they are polite and helpful. The problem is that they are backed up by a lot of muppets, if it doesnt register a fault then dont expect a resolution. Mines now had 4 trips for a squeaky seat - I mean how hard is that to identify. They have little respect for the car, mine has been damaged, they've scratched the leather steering wheel - its just a pointless task taking it to them and then having to wait for 3 weeks til they can get it back in again.

My Advice - find someone better it cant be hard.

I would not overly rate Preston Audi. The staff seem to know little about what has happened to the car. I took mine there for new tyres, and as well as being charged double, they were never balcanced. I phoned up and they did refund me, and said they would balance the new tyres but they still came back with a wobble in the steering wheel.

Secondy on the 2nd service I was phoned up and asked if it was ok for the brake fluid to be changed, as I was out shopping I said yes, but thought it had been done. After the service I got back home, and yes, I already had a receipt for the brake fluid change.

When I needed to replace a tyre after a puncture, I went to Kwik Fit who balanced the tyres, no more wobble, although now I get a slight noise when cornering fast, sounds like the wheel is ablut to come off.

Not sure if I will go there for my next MOT, or try a local garage.

Id rate them 2+1/2 out of 5

been to a few stealers in my time but the best ive been to is my local one york audi, sales are sound guys ok ive never bought one off them but they let me and the kids run riot in there with the camera,eg. when the s5,r8,s8 was launched i was all over them taking pics days before launch, coffee when ever i want drinks for the kids, if the kids need the loo they use it.
parts dept are the best ive ever seen,i can go in order anything and i get a call next day to pick up,we know all the staff its mint.then on the other hand we have harrogate audi well wot can i say, haaaa yes i must look like a shoplifter :D:D as all the time a salesman was 2inch behind me,and when i told him i was just looking, hell it was like i had cut his fingers off.
he asked me what car i had and told him a 90 20v and the reply i got back shocked me "audi never did a 90 or a 20v engine in a 80".
well that topped it off for me.i laughed and walked out.
so for york i would give em 10/10 and the muppets at harrogate 1/10.
leeds audi are the same as york cant do enough for you even let me in the area where they store all the cars to see the s5`s.let me crawl all over the r8 when it came in the showroom, not many would.the only thing i do have to say about audi is this....

Bought mine from them, I was in a hurry and it was fastest deal I've ever done. Picked it up a few days later, text book example of how to sell a car ... collected me from the station, car exactly as promised, all paperwork ready to roll, ... all told a top class buying experience.

A superb dealer, polite, friendly, and eager to please. Obviously the price of servicing does pinch a bit, but my car was driven back to me by a truly lovely chap, who showed me through all of the paperwork and generally praised my A2 as 'one of the best he's ever driven'...(but I bet he says that all the time though ;)). 10/10 - Very Highly recommended. :D

Aylesbury Audi

Got my first service at Kidlington, Oxon and swore never to return and since then been using Aylesbury Audi in Bucks which I can highly recommend

Never known a dealer before to do things for free !! A stering fluid top up on one occassion (which involved bonnet and headlight removal) and headlamp alignment on another

Having done 175,000 miles and service every 20-30,000 miles they've had plenty of chances to get it wrong but have so far lived up to the expectations that go with Audi servicing costs !!

They do nice selection of courtesy cars too

Stockport Audi - Nice sales 8/10

OK service 8/10 (they got the price of the tyres but fitted them at the price they quoted on the phone)

Aftersales - Terrible 2/10. I bought the car as ex-demo and it had coke on the dash, I though nothing of this but two years later it appears that this coke had been spilt into the radio and it is now fubard. Not covered and they want £580 for the pleaseure of boshing a wireless in!

Anyone got a concert 2 that they want shut of? :)

Bradford audi.

Spare parts 10/10.

Very helpfull when i needed to replace all 3 engine mounts (my own peice of mind as there was a LOT of movement in them) and the tools in the boot.

Never asked if i was going to book the car in for them to do the work even let me in the service bay to watch a guy work on an a2 in for some work doing on it.

No pressure just walk in sort you out and have a chat pleasure to deal with.

I have purchased 2 cars from Southampton Audi (Chandler Ford, Hampshire) now and both purchases have been 10/10

Purchased 2nd Hand A2 two years ago

Really nice experience, polite knowledgable salesman
Well presented car
Decent test drive
All paperwork correctly completed
Took my old and knackered A4 in return (170k miles) and even paid me for it :)
Evening service shift, so you can deliver your car around 5pm and collect it around 9:30pm same day - very convenient for me!
Feels more like a family run business, helpfull and polite
Services are expensive :( but no more than other Audi dealerships

Yesterday the A2 engine lite came on during the drive home from work, drove into the dealership at 6pm, engineer was moving cars around, told him what had happened, he immediately brought out the Can Bus tester and checked the fault report, (confirmed to us it was an inlet manafold fault - possibly the sensor) and offered to book the car in for the following evening to be pulled appart to check.
I am sure many other dealerships wouldnt even have anyone there at 6pm, let alone drop what they are doing and do a quick scan to see what the issue was and show us the results without paying. Of course it will end up costing us money, but they are always genuinely helpful and it gives a comfort feeling that you are not being unduley ripped off.

A few weeks ago purchased new A3 1.9TDi Special Edtn E Silver / Dark Grey Leather
£35/year Road Tax 62MPG Average (Quoted)
700+ miles to a tank (even with me driving)

Once again Southampton Audi were really helpful. The salesman (Paul) was knowledgable, polite, well humoured, patient and not at all condescending even when I advised him I was going to test drive a BMW later that day (because in fairness it was already booked)
Worked hard to locate the spec we wanted, found a car to the correct spec just delivered to Readng Audi, negotiated swap of dealer cars and got the car in, modded and to us in 2 weeks.
Gave us a generous discount with only minor haggling (it was near the end of the 08 plate!)
We added a lot of extras (dog guard, load tray, reversing warning system etc.) and got around 33% off that as well.
PDI, finish and handover all 100% Everything we asked for was done - spot on.
Overall we really enjoyed the experience!!

In contrast, the same weekend we testdrove a BMW 118d just to compare. Told both dealers we wanted to make the decision that day and were looking for the best deal to keep us there, the dealer was condescending, wanted to sell us the car he had just had delivered rather than the spec we wanted, rather than offering a discount he would only quote list price and threatened us with a price hike if we didnt buy immediately...
When he phoned 3 days later i had great delight in (politely) telling him I had purchased an Audi because they had offered a much better deal, needless to say he actually got anoyed with me over the phone.....

Review of Portsmouth Audi - 0/10

I am sure they are very nice people, but DONT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CAR!

Everyone has their bad days, but like a doctor you really want to be able to trust the person dealing with your car!

I only used them because they were 2 minutes walking distance from my place of work.

Once when servicing my A4 they phoned me during the day and sugested the coolant needed changing. I must have been feeling flush so I oked the work.

On the way home down the M27 the hose fell off the radiator and all the water drained out. The RAC man at the side of the road said it could have happened to anyone - not!
I tried to call Audi from the roadside thinking (huh) that they might send their own recovery out. I just got through to the recetionist. She couldnt put me through since the service people were all busy. I asked that they call me back as I had broken down, she sugested I call the RAC, I explained that the car had just been serviced, she said she really couldnt comment and I would have to speak to someone in service - they called me back ..... the following afternoon.
I spent a pleasent afternoon shouting at the most senior manager I could find in the shop at the time.
Eventually to stop me shouting as I was scaring al the customers away (Saturday is a busy time for a dealership :D) they agreed;
To redo the coolant
To fully check the engine for damage
To do the nect service free of charge (labour that is)
Repay my RAC no claims bonus

That said, when I went to get the free service next time, they denied all knowledge and insisted I find the apology letter to prove the incident had happened. After considerable further shouting in the showroom once again they miraculously found a note of the incident and agreed to only charge me for parts.

On another visit there we two guys being shoulted at in the managers office, someone dmitted they had been throwing things at each other across the workshop (and peoples cars)

On another visit, (I should have learnt my lesson) they were servicing my A2, only they broke an ignition coil. As you all know they are like rocking hourse sh1t to get hold of so the car was out of action for a further 4 days, although they did give me a loaner during that time .....

Avoid Portsmouth Audi - cowboys with Audi badges!!!

Small independents is the way to go (their livelihood depends on their reputation). MONKS at North Baddersley (Romsey) is absolutely fantastic. He has been responsible for every VW and Audi that I have owned (when I didn't/couldn't do the work myself). Give them a try next time.

Isaac Agnew (Belfast)

We have two cars, a 03 allroad and a 03 A2. The service on the allroad has been great, but expensive. Can't say the same for the A2. Not great and expensive.

They did a spring replacement on the A2 passerger side a few months ago. I also asked them to check the driver's side. The obviously didn't as I found a broken spring there too and looks as though it's been broken for some time. There is still noise coming from the driver's side. The passenger side is fine - I did that one myself.

Simple jobs on the A2 seem beneath them. I get the impression the A2 is handled by apprentices as it's an older low value Audi.

Just my experience and others may feel different.

Southampton Audi.

What can i say poor, poor, poor Service.

Went in today with my bench seat problem and they weren't even interested in having a look to see if there is a simple solution.

The guy said he'd order in 2 new catches just in case, oh and it would be £95 + vat labour per hour to look at it.:(

Needless to say i wasn't left with much option other than to book it in, oh and they can't fit me in until the 22nd September.

Hopefully in that time i will be able to get it to move by myself and then i'll never take it down again.

Worthing Audi have been most helpful - if one can ignore the cost of the spare parts.
