After having out house burgled, the thief took off with my spare car keys AND my A2 !! Talk about salt in the wound.:(

Just in case someone is offered this car, it was a 1.4 Petrol, Atlantic Blue, Reg No. X716 HFB with VIN No. WAUZZZ8ZZ1NO25064, Engine No. AUA177000 and had only just over 5000 miles on the clock.

If anyone is offered this car I'd be eternally grateful to be contacted on karenmyhill@waitrose.com

Awful news, sorry.

I've heard this type of car crime is on the rise. Maybe we should all learn from this and hide our spare keys.

Thanks for the advice.
We were considering where to locate a key safe in the house plus have had an alarm fitted after the event. Words like horse & bolted come to mind I know but sometime you need a kick to take action !

PS Our insurer for both house & car, Norwich Union have been an absolute nightmare. Hanging on for 20 mins on their call centre before talking to a numbskull. Definitely worth avioding NU in future. Shame you never find out bad NU are unless you need to claim !

Karen, a lot of people do the same when an event like this happens. You just never think it will happen to you.

May be worth getting the local police crime prevention guy round and they will talk you through some hints and tips (light timers, thorny bushes in the right place, security lights etc)

And NU is annoying-was it an Indian you spoke to?-more than likely the India call centre who despite being able people just can not grasp the British way of life.

On the subject of keeping the keys safe a colleague had his car stolen about two years ago by burglars who broke in for the keys while they were in bed. He suggested to the Police that it would have been better to take the keys upstairs to avoid it happening, their response was that it is not a good idea as they would just come upstairs and "ask" for the keys!

I leave them on the fridge and if they want the car that badly they can have it!

Thankfully A2s are rarely stolen... another good reason for owning one I think - since they are very hard to sell on. Ask any 2nd hand dealer if he'd take one in and the answer is usually: "Sorry mate, don't buy/trade in them funny things. They stay on my lot for ages and I can't flog them without a loss. Too weird a car and too expensive."

Sorry to hear yours was stolen Karen though.
