Hi to all, I'm new on here and am looking at buying an A2 1.4 tdi but first a few stupid Q's !

How well do they stand up to high milage ? any cars on the forum with 100k (ish) miles on the clock ? is it chipped and if so any prob's ?[29]

Sorry to be a pain but cash is easier to spend than it is to earn so I need to know what I'm getting [21]. So....... if you smashed your A2 up tomorrow [4] would you buy another ???

Cheers,

Mark...

Hi, and welcome,

There must be some high mileage A2 here (ours only 33K miles), all seem to pass MOT's without any work.

Would I buy another.... Hell Yeaaa!

If you were to smash your A2 up, you would be amazed at how well put together thay are & that you could walk away from the accident with no injuries. That is reason enough to get another one - we did.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a 1.4SE petrol. http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/uk14.htm http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/safety.htm
New A2 - Ebony Black, Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

Mine is at 67000 miles and I'm as happy as Larry with it... will by another tomorrow...

Have a look at these two treads from some time ago. One is about the things we would like to change in our cars, the other about the things we love:

Also remember TDi can be chipped for MUCH more power but the 1,4 petrol can't really without major mods... Go for the TDi...

There's an interesting article on: http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/price.htm
which highlights some problem areas on high mileage A2s.

I can only hope that the A2 is a reliable high mileage car as I'll soon be doing 25k+ a year in mine.

As ever with high mileage cars, service is everything. Unless it has a full service history don't buy the car.

Welcome panspeed

Autoexpress did a article where they ran a number of cars for a number of miles then stripped them down to the last nut and bolt. The A2 came out OK, with only an issue with the open sky (I think-either way it was a good outcome).

Hi Panspeed - if you're thinking of an A2 then all I can say is, Good Choice! My wife and I have been well impressed with ours since we bought it a year ago.

It was never actually on my list (was moving from a 12-year-old Volvo) as I went to the Audi garage to look at s/h A4 estates originally! But was immediately taken with the A2 - especially as I'm 6ft 5 and can fit inside it without any problems.

I've done 31,000 miles in it since May last year (bought it with 4,000); have had one long-life service; just getting new tyres on the front; and averaging 63-67 mpg. In my opinion, it gives you big car comfort (with possibly the exception of the ride) with small car practicality and economy. We both think it's criminal that Audi doesn't sell more of them - but they've not marketed them in the right manner.

Buy one quickly, enjoy it at leisure. I'll be buying another next year.

Thanks fellas, I am very very tempted. The A2 was a car that I hadnt taken any notice of until a few weeks back. A foxy red head [7]pulled up beside me and whilst I was admiring her air bags she floored it. I caught her up at the next set of lights and was surprised to see that it was a 1.4 diesel. I'm looking to book a test drive in a week or so ( of the car not the red head :() I just hope it drives better than my X,s A class cos its an uncomfortable ill thought out heap of crap[3].
will let you all know what I think.

Cheers,

Mark..

In the Driver Power owner's survey in the AutoExpress magazine the A2 always scored better than the A-class for ride and handling. The A-class was usually 2nd last out of 100 cars... only smart was worse. A2 is great if you understand and see it as a sportscar: hard suspension that is bad over speedbumps, but oh boy, great GREAT fun for the twisty country road as it does not lean through corners... I love it!
