Ashtray

My ashtray has become detached, does anyone know how the damped sliding mechanism is refitted?

The same thing happened to me, and I chose to take it back to Audi rather than break the thing completely. They replaced it under warranty.

Not sure how it would be 'fixed' as I tried to find the spring and re-attached it but didn't have any luck.
